Testing And Evaluation Of "Three Defense" Functions Of Textiles

The water repellent, oil repellent and dirt repellent properties of textiles are commonly referred to as "Three Preventions".

Water repellency: fabric has resistance to water and wettability.

Oil repellency: fabric has the ability to resist oil liquids.

Dirt Repellency: after the fabric is contaminated, the ability to remove the dirt easily by ordinary washing or wiping is also known as "easy decontamination".

Water repellency: GB/T 4745 - 2012 "testing and evaluation of water repellency of textiles".

Oil repellency: GB/T 19977 - 2014 "oil repellency test for textiles";

Method summary: a series of standard hydrocarbon droplets with different surface tension are selected on the surface of the sample, and then the wetting, wicking and contact angles are observed. The oil repellency level is indicated by the highest number of test solution without wetting sample.

The droplets are divided into four groups. According to the occurrence of four kinds of droplets, the oil prevention progression is determined.

Methods: first, the samples were treated with oil, and the samples were cleaned for a period of time or dry after heavy hammering. By comparing the color difference between the stained area and the non stained part of the cleaned sample, it can be used to evaluate the easy detergency of the sample.

How to evaluate?

The "Three Prevention" properties of textiles can be evaluated according to the technical requirements of GB/T 21295 - 2014 "physical and chemical properties of clothing".
