The Japan US Trade Agreement Has Entered Into Force Since January 1St (2020).

The Japan US trade agreement was approved by the Japanese Senate plenary meeting at the end of (2019) and effective from January 1st (2020). The import of beef duty from the United States will be lowered from the current 38.5% stage to 9% in 2033. In addition, the Japan us digital trade agreement, which stipulates electronic commerce transaction rules, will come into force on the same date.

The leaders of Japan and the United States held a summit meeting in September (2018), and reached agreement on bilateral trade negotiation consultations. In October 7, 2019, they formally signed trade agreements and digital trade agreements. As a result of this agreement, the US can complete the domestic approval process without the approval of the Congress without the approval of the president, so the Japanese side can get into effect as long as it obtains the approval procedure of the Japanese parliament.

In the above-mentioned trade agreements, the governments of Japan and the United States will continue consultations on tariff reductions and revocation of cars and automobile components. According to local media reports in Japan, it is alleged that the second round of consultations on the Japan US trade agreement is scheduled for the first time in the spring of November 2020 (2020).
