KENZO Starts Again, Launching Luxury Home And Lifestyle Brand "K Three".
The famous Japanese fashion designer KENZO (Kenzo Takada) will launch a luxury household and lifestyle brand named "K three" in January 17th. The brand will debut in the new exhibition hall on Saint Germain Avenue, Paris, and the Paris Deco Home and Maison et Objet design trade show.
KENZO is the founder of Kenzo (Kai Zhuo) brand, which was bought by French luxury giant LVMH group in 1993. He retired in 1999. After retirement, KENZO launched a series of cross-border cooperation in lifestyle products, but this is the first time he founded a new company after nearly 50 years of creating the fashion brand Jungle Jap.
Instead of going back to the field of clothing, KENZO chose the lifestyle area. He said: "I like to design lifestyle products, which is much more liberal than designing garments, because everything in clothes is seasonal."
KENZO has always been famous for its interior design. He used to imitate the traditional Japanese residence in the Bastille District of Paris, with a Japanese garden and an indoor swimming pool. His company is headquartered on the left bank of Paris, and is also filled with oriental art, fish jar, red coffee table and ceramic vase. His new residence is located on the two floor of the office, and can see the magnificent scenery of Eiffel Tower.
KENZO smiled at the company headquarters. "I am almost 81 years old, and I am still working. I am surprised myself. But I quit working too early and left Kenzo when I was 60 years old. Then I realized I missed my job, so I went back to work.
The new project "K three" contains more than 300 works, mainly furniture, ceramics, carpets, ornaments, linen and textiles, and has developed products with several manufacturing partners from Italy, France and the United States, including bedding jointly developed with Sferra of Italy textile company. A total of 250 people participated in the K three cooperation project. The K three brand will adopt the new Drop style every year and will be sold all over the world.
The name "K three" represents the three main partners behind the project: KENZO, as well as management partner Jonathan Bouchet Manheim and creative assistant Engelbert Honorat. The "K three" combination of Chinese and Western logo also demonstrates its cross cultural ambitions.
Throughout the series, KENZO's homage to the Japanese tradition is everywhere. The three screen shows the three themes of the K three series, including cherry blossoms, inspired by the complex flower patterns of nature, boldly, and boldly drawing on the red and white makeup of geisha; general, a lively theme with ivory black as the dominant color.
The ceramic work shows the Japanese gold paint repair technology, which is a technique to repair damaged ceramics by filling cracks with gold paint. KENZO said, "I know this technology for a long time, but I have seen it only in the old palaces of Japan." Although he has many friends who study pottery, he has only once met himself. He said, "when I worked with Engelbert Honorat, I realized that gold paint is really interesting from the perspective of graphics."
This series of textiles also has Japanese characteristics. Some printed sheets are eye-catching magenta flowers, some of which are delicate white jacquard tonal. The fabric of the furniture is decorated with avant-garde black and silver weave patterns.
The three groups are preparing for the opening ceremony of the Milan International Furniture Fair. After that, exhibitions will be held in New York, London and Asia.
