It may be exaggerated to be unaware, but in fact, these phenomena finally point to a problem: they have fallen into the "mask panic".

As we all know, respirators can be classified into four categories: gauze mask, medical mask, daily protective mask and industrial dust mask. However, only medical masks and N95 masks can play a protective role in the epidemic. These two kinds of masks occupy a very limited proportion in the whole mask industry, so the "mask panic" situation is getting more and more intense.

The outbreak coincided with the Spring Festival holiday. As masks manufacturers and suppliers of upstream raw materials have basically stopped work, a large number of workers returned home for the Spring Festival. Many of the logistics enterprises have also been on holiday, making the mask production capacity much lower than normal, and the contradiction between market supply and demand is extremely intense.

According to media statistics, there are only 559 medical masks licensed in the country, which are held by 353 enterprises. However, due to the impact of the epidemic, many traffic lines or adjustments or outages have caused great pressure on the logistics and affected the supply of respirators.

The "mask panic" phenomenon is not caused by inadequate production capacity of China's mask industry. In fact, it is because the epidemic situation is becoming more and more serious. People's psychological turbulence is not strong enough to be feared. In time, the mask came out and was robbed. In addition, the mask is thrown once every time. How many masks can be thrown away? In fact, there is no need to wear a mask. It can be changed once a day to two days.

Therefore, efforts should be made in the allocation of personnel and the smooth flow of goods and materials. Legislation should also be made on the distribution of combat readiness materials, quantified and time-dependent supply according to the family population, so as to achieve a reasonable, efficient and organized distribution.
