In the evening of February 21st, the Ministry of Education issued an urgent notice to the Wuhan Textile University, requiring schools to organize relevant experts and scholars to provide scientific and technological decision-making consultation on the shortage of melt blown cotton. The Wuhan Textile University immediately set up a research team composed of 5 teachers, including Professor Li Jianqiang, Professor of textile School of the school, and Zhang Ruquan, Zou Hantao, Zhang Ming and Liu Yanbo. Professor Zhang Ruquan, Dean of the Textile Institute of the school, collated the production equipment, production capacity and latest technology of the domestic production of melt blown cotton throughout the night. "The project is of great significance for ensuring the safety of medical staff and people, and at the same time, it can enhance the technological level of China's protective materials and promote technological innovation in the fiber manufacturing industry."

During the epidemic, in response to the surge in demand for protective materials for new crown virus, Professor Wang Dong's team is also developing a nanofiber coating protective material, which can intercept bacteria and viruses efficiently and overcome the serious shortage and unstable quality problems of high-performance melted spray cloth, microporous membrane waterproof and moisture permeable membrane used by existing masks and protective clothing manufacturers. It can provide support for rapid production and long-term health protection strategy for new technology products after resuming work. At the same time, they are still carrying out the research and application of a real-time and visualized detection paper for biological hazardous substances. This test paper for new crown virus will not require professional operation or rely on special equipment to make home self testing and self testing possible.
