Ministry Of Commerce: Togo Cotton Production Drops Again
The Togolese Herald reported on May 23 that although OLAM group of Singapore took over the Togo cotton industry, the cotton production of Togo will drop again from 2021 to 2022, which is only 50000 tons, with a decrease rate of 25%, compared with the previous forecast of 130000 tons. In 2021-2022, the cultivated land of Togo is 74000 ha. However, due to the higher profit of soybean, some farmers give up planting cotton and plant soybean instead. In the face of this situation, Togo's new cotton company has adopted new incentives, including increasing cotton prices.
