China'S First Set Of 48K Large Tow Carbon Fiber Project With 10000 Tons Has Been Put Into Operation Successfully

　　 On October 13, Sinopec announced that the first domestic production line of China's first 10000 ton 48K large tow carbon fiber project has produced qualified products in Sinopec's Shanghai Petrochemical carbon fiber industrial base. The performance of the products is comparable to that of the same level products abroad, and the quality has reached the international advanced level. This indicates that China's large tow carbon fiber has successfully moved to large-scale production from key technology breakthrough, industrial trial production and industrialization.

　　 In the carbon fiber industry, it is usually called large tow carbon fiber that the number of carbon fibers per bundle is more than 48000 (48K for short). Large tow carbon fibers are known as "the king of new materials" and "black gold". It is widely used in wind energy, solar energy, high-speed rail cars, aircraft parts and other industries. The large tow carbon fiber is a new type of high strength fiber material with carbon content of more than 95%. Its mechanical properties are excellent, the specific gravity is less than one fourth of steel, the strength is 7 to 9 times of steel, and it also has corrosion resistance.

　　 There are strict technical barriers to carbon fiber technology. For a long time, the development of carbon fiber in China is mainly achieved in the aspect of small tow carbon fiber. However, due to the high cost of small tow carbon fiber, the enthusiasm of downstream enterprises to apply carbon fiber is affected. With more than 10 universities, scientific research institutes and enterprises, Sinopec has achieved a major breakthrough from 12K to 48K after more than ten years' efforts, and successfully realized the leap from quantitative change to qualitative change in R & D and production technology. Sinopec has become the first enterprise in China and the fourth in the world to master the technology of large tow carbon fiber.

　　 Shanghai Petrochemical carbon fiber industrial base is planned to be completed and put into operation in 2024, with a total production capacity of 24000 T / a precursor and 12000 T / a large tow carbon fiber. The data shows that the total demand of China's carbon fiber market in 2021 is about 60000 tons, and the domestic supply is close to 30000 tons. However, some key varieties and high-end products such as large tow carbon fiber are mainly imported.
