Global Perspective: Dr. Harald Weber Appointed New President Of VDMA

The new president of the Textile Machinery Association of Frankfurt will become the president of webvdma on October 2, 2021. The 44 year old industrial engineer will replace Mr. Thomas Waldmann, who has held the position since 1991, and will retire at the end of the year.

Dr. Weber completed his doctorate at the University of science and technology in Darmstadt, and was a lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences (THM) at mittelheisen. He joined VDMA in 2011. Since then, he has been responsible for the technical and innovative work of the plastics and Rubber Machinery Association.

Dr. janpeter horn, chairman of VDMA Textile Machinery Association and managing director of August Herzog maschinenfabrik, commented on the personnel change: "From his previous work in the plastics industry, Dr. Weber also has a wealth of knowledge and experience in increasingly important topics in the field of textile machinery manufacturing, such as recycling and recycling economy, as well as digitization, especially in standard OPC UA."

Dr horn added: "We warmly welcome Dr. Weber and thank Mr. Thomas Waldmann, who has been president of the Textile Machinery Association for 30 years in response to the changing industry. Mr. Waldmann has been following the pulse of the industry and, together with his team, represents the special interests of member companies: from technical policies to market access challenges to leading world textile machinery ITMA and CEMATEX. ITMA Munich in 2007 is undoubtedly a bright spot. The Executive Board of the German Textile Machinery Association wishes Mr. Waldmann every success in his upcoming new life. "
