After the Spring Festival, Guangzhou's famous "clothing village" ushered in a recruitment craze. On the narrow street of Kangle Village, Haizhu District, tricycles carrying cloth kept coming and going. The factory owner stood on both sides of the road and waited for workers to come to inquire. Kangle Village has regained its former liveliness.

Last November, Kanglu District, located in Haizhu District, became the "eye of storm" of the epidemic in Guangzhou, and many garment factory bosses and workers returned home in advance. At the beginning of the new year, the practitioners of the "clothing village" have returned to Guangzhou one after another. Some factories have received orders, ushering in a good start.

The Zhongda Textile Business District is the representative of Guangzhou's fashion industry. At present, it has gathered 62 professional markets, with more than 300000 employees and an annual turnover of more than 200 billion yuan. Kanglu District along the Zhongda Textile Business District, including Kangle Village and Lujiang Village, is distributed with a large number of small garment factories, which absorb a large number of migrant workers with its unique "short work piece" model. Every day, countless ready-made clothes are transported from here to all parts of the country.

"It is expected that there will be a wave of rising trend in the clothing industry this year, and orders will definitely surge, and may return to the level before the epidemic." Mr. Gao, who has worked in Kangle Village for more than ten years, told reporters that customers will order fabrics and accessories in the morning in the textile business circle of Zhongda, and then place an order in the clothing factory in Kanglu District, and the goods will be delivered as soon as that night, The fast trading mode makes many orders flow here.

"Our factory started on the tenth day of the first month. At present, it has hired more than a dozen workers, and is rushing to produce thousands of pieces of woven fabric. After finishing this batch of goods, there is another batch. This year's business is better than previous years. Some workers have not returned, and the parking workers are still nervous." Ms. Chen, the head of a garment factory in Kangle Village, told reporters.

In Kangle Village, Yuenanxin Street is full of garment factory bosses, some holding signboards, some holding clothes samples to wait for workers to choose. Parking workers, ironers, etc. are the most scarce positions. As a large number of migrant workers returned to Guangzhou after the Lantern Festival, the recruitment scene of workers picking bosses was staged in the "clothing village".

Ms. Wang, who is looking for a job in the workshop, told the reporter: "I have worked in Kangle Village for three or four years. Last year, after the outbreak of the epidemic in Guangzhou, I went back to my hometown. On the eighth day of the first month, I came from Hubei and took a bus for 26 hours due to traffic jams. This year, I came earlier and wanted to earn more money."

In addition to employees, there are also garment factory owners looking for customers. The reporter saw Mr. Shen from Jianli, Hubei, sitting beside the street in Yonan New Street, Kangle Village, with a small blackboard in front of him, which said "Looking for Customers". He told reporters that he and his family had opened a factory in Kangle Village for three years, mainly producing knitted sweaters. Although the business in the factory had been affected by the epidemic before, he was confident this year and hoped that the business would be better than in previous years.

Mr. Wu from Guangzhou Shisanhang Clothing Wholesale Market recently went to Kangle Village to look for a cooperative clothing factory. He told reporters that his stall specializes in selling short skirts and shorts. Since the opening of the eighth day of the lunar new year, business has been relatively stable, and at least more than 1000 clothes can be sold a day. Since the factory we worked with could not catch up with the shipment, we went to Kangle Village to find several more factories. He said: "This year, the market is still very optimistic, and everyone is bold in picking up goods."

Although the business of Zhongda Textile Business District is booming, the market has reached saturation and the storage pressure has increased due to industrial adjustment, resource constraints, factor costs and other factors. On December 30, 2022, the ceremony for the centralized signing and collective settlement of Guangqing Textile and Clothing Industrial Park project was held in Qingyuan City, Guangdong Province. At the event site, 11 leading enterprises in the textile and clothing industry chain signed centralized contracts, with a total investment of 34.485 billion yuan, and 20 key enterprises in the textile and clothing industry settled.

At present, Guangzhou and Qingyuan are working together to promote the orderly gradient transfer of the textile and clothing industry. In Kanglu District, several buses bound for Qingyuan stopped at the street. The banner "A large number of tailors are recruited for 8000-12000 yuan/month" was hung on the bus, and workers came to the site for consultation.

According to Zou Yumei, the person in charge of the site, Guangqing Textile and Garment Transfer Industrial Park has arranged buses to pick up workers who want to visit the park for free since the eighth day of the lunar calendar. Four to five buses are sent every day. At present, the industrial park mainly recruits parking workers, edging workers, rear finishing workers, special machines, medium ironing workers, and large ironing workers. The first 400 workers can be rewarded with an electric bicycle.

Wang Xianqing, president of the Guangdong Institute of Business Economics, believes that textile and clothing enterprises can customize and display in Guangzhou, and process and produce in Qingyuan. The integration of online and offline, industry and consumption makes this industry more conducive to diffusion and promotes the synchronous upgrading of the value chains of the two places.
