Guizhou Nayong: Develop Sericulture Industry In The Whole Chain
In midsummer July, when walking on the rural road in Shaowo Town, Nayong County, Guizhou Province, you can see the lush mulberry forests from time to time, and occasionally you can see the sericulture farmers picking mulberry leaves in the forest with their backbaskets.
Many farmers in Shaowo Town are engaged in planting mulberry and sericulture, and the silkworm eggs are distributed by the local leading company. After raising large cocoons, the company buys cocoons in a unified way. Cocoons will be turned into white silk threads after cocoon selection, silk reeling, weaving and other steps are completed in local factories, and some silk will also be processed into silk quilts, clothing and other products.
In the local area, the whole industrial chain of the sericulture industry driven by Guizhou Nafurui Sericulture Industry Development Co., Ltd., from mulberry planting and silkworm breeding to silk processing, finished product sales and brand building, has been perfected, which not only drives the development of the sericulture industry in Nayong County, but also drives the common development of sericulture farmers in surrounding counties and cities, such as Liupanshui, Anshun, Zhijin, etc.
Transform ecological advantages into economic advantages
"The soil of Nayong is suitable for the growth of mulberry trees, and the mild climate is also suitable for sericulture." Deng Ruishi, general manager of Guizhou Nafurui Sericulture Industry Development Co., Ltd., said, "At present, Nayong has about 10000 mu of mulberry garden area, and Shaowo Town alone has more than 6000 mu. Nayong's silkworm cocoon can pull out more than 1200 meters of silk on average, far more than the cocoons in other places."
In addition to natural advantages, the blessing of advanced scientific research technology also provides a better guarantee for the development of local sericulture industry. "The company has signed a technical cooperation agreement with the Sericulture Institute of Guizhou Academy of Agricultural Sciences, and our mulberry planting and sericulture technologies have been guided by experts from the sericulture institute." Deng Ruishi introduced that, under the guidance of the sericulture institute, the company has significantly improved its technology in mulberry pest control and standardized silkworm breeding.
In recent years, Guizhou Province, as the place to undertake the "East Mulberry Movement to the West", has witnessed a vigorous development of the silkworm industry. Nayong has also taken advantage of this east wind to vigorously develop the silkworm industry, transforming ecological advantages into economic advantages.
Good equipment brings good products
Benefiting from the good mulberry leaves and cocoons in Nayong, the silk products produced locally are of good quality and well received by the market. "Our silk is whiter, longer and more resilient, which is why a batch of samples just sent to Jiangsu were favored by Japanese customers." In the production plant of Guizhou Nafurui Sericulture Industry Development Co., Ltd., Chairman Zhou Jie said.
He said that when the cooperators in Jiangsu saw that the silk produced by Nayong was of high quality, they sent it to Japanese customers. Unexpectedly, Japanese customers fell in love with this silk at a glance. "Japanese customers called to say that they want to buy our silk at a price of 460000 yuan per ton, and are willing to cooperate with us for a long time. If the quality is stable, they will consider including us in their silk supplier system."
To produce good silk thread, in addition to good cocoons, advanced and mature processing technology is also indispensable. In the workshop of Guizhou Nafurui Sericulture Industry Development Co., Ltd., workers stand in front of the machine, or operate the machine, or select cocoons, skillfully.
"We have the most advanced silk reeling machine in the world, which can automatically produce silk from cocoons to silk threads. This machine can automatically sense the size of cocoons, automatically add cocoons, and automatically reel silk, which is more intelligent and also saves labor." Ji Changyin, the company's technical consultant, told the reporter that the old machine needed 20 people to operate, Now only 8 people are needed, and if they are mature skilled workers, only 4 are needed.
"At present, the machines in the room can realize the whole process of production from cocoon to silk, from drying, cocoon selection, cocoon cooking to silk reeling, reeling, balancing, silk weaving, twisting, as well as the final factory inspection and packaging," Ji Changyin said.
A piece of mulberry leaves makes people rich
Chen Xiaolan, a villager in the riverside village group of Yaluo Village, Nayong County, has transformed two houses into silkworm houses, and planted mulberry trees on the land of his family, which has become the main business of the old couple.
"We raise silkworms over the age of three, which is easy to feed. Last year, we earned more than 40000 yuan." Chen Xiaolan said that we can raise nine batches of silkworms a year, and each batch can cocoon in 15 to 16 days. After cocooning, they can be sold to the company. "This year's mulberry leaves grow better than last year's, and it is expected that this year's income will be more than last year's."
In Nayong, like Chen Xiaolan, there are not a few people who grow mulberry and raise silkworms. "The labor intensity of sericulture is low. It only takes about half a year to do it every year, and the income is still considerable," said Chen Xiaolan.
In order to reduce the losses of sericulture and maximize the benefits for the sericulture farmers, Guizhou Nafurui Sericulture Industry Development Co., Ltd. adjusted the distribution time according to the growth cycle of the silkworm, and then distributed the silkworm to the sericulture farmers after half of the silkworm is raised.
Guizhou Nafurui Sericulture Industry Development Co., Ltd. was first founded by Deng Ruishi in 2019. In 2021, it will be funded by the local government and become the current public-private partnership. After several years of development, the company has become a leading enterprise in the local silkworm industry, showing a good helping ability.
"There are two main aspects of our drive. On the one hand, we drive people to grow mulberry and raise silkworms for income, and on the other hand, we drive local people to enter factories and find jobs. We are cultivating a number of high-quality industrial workers," Zhou Jie said.
"This factory started operation in April this year, and the workers we recruited were not familiar with silk reeling technology, so we all recruited and trained at the same time." Ji Changyin said, "It takes about one year to train as industrial workers. At present, there are 47 workers in the factory, with a monthly salary of about 3000 yuan per person, and the monthly salary of skilled workers can reach 5000 yuan."
In addition to driving the employment and income increase of local people in Nayong, Guizhou Nafurui Sericulture Industry Development Co., Ltd. has also driven sericulture farmers in Anshun, Liupanshui and other places to participate in industrial development. "At present, the factory has not reached its capacity. If it reaches its capacity, it can produce more than 220 tons of silk every year, with an output value of more than 100 million yuan. At present, the local cocoons are not enough to process, and a large number of cocoons need to be purchased from overseas." Zhou Jie said that in the future, they will continue to expand the scale of the sericulture industry, build more weaving workshops, and improve the quality and efficiency of the industry.
