On August 14, the reporter learned from the Department of Industry and Information Technology of Xinjiang Autonomous Region that in the first half of this year, the added value of Xinjiang's textile industry increased by 7.0% year-on-year, 9.4 percentage points higher than that in the first quarter.

At present, it is the flowering and boll setting period of Xinjiang cotton, which is also the key stage to determine the cotton yield. In the north and south of Tianshan Mountains, cotton farmers are busy using modern scientific and technological means to increase cotton yield and income.

Under the empowerment of mechanization, digitalization and intelligence, Xinjiang's cotton industry has accelerated the development of the whole industrial chain. Xinjiang's cotton yield, total output and quality have significantly improved, international competitiveness has significantly increased, and the industrial agglomeration effect has begun to appear.

Cotton production improves quality and efficiency, and drives textile enterprises to speed up production. In the first half of the year, the industrial added value of textile and clothing enterprises above designated size in Xinjiang increased by 7% year on year, 1.8 percentage points higher than the industrial growth in Xinjiang. 1.167 million tons of yarn was produced, up 9.8% year on year; 558 million meters, up 27.6% year on year.

Today, Xinjiang's textile and clothing industry is developing towards the whole industry chain. While the project construction continues to advance, some projects put into use have attracted leading enterprises in the industry to settle in.

At present, the scale and technical level of Xinjiang's cotton textile industry are among the top in China, and the weaving, printing and dyeing, clothing, home textile and knitting industries have begun to take shape. The pace of undertaking industrial transfer has been significantly accelerated, the industrial structure has been optimized, and the effect of cluster development has gradually emerged. Xinjiang has become the most important cotton textile production base, viscose fiber production base, and the main clothing processing base in northwest China.

In the next step, Xinjiang will continue to optimize its industrial structure and promote the extension of the chain to supplement and strengthen the chain. It will make full use of the existing production capacity of paraxylene (PX) and purified terephthalic acid (PTA) in Xinjiang, promote the polyester (fiber) project to reach the production capacity as soon as possible, and realize the coordinated development of cotton textile industry and chemical fiber industry. At the same time, we will increase investment attraction, promote the industry to move towards downstream terminal industries, constantly expand the scale of middle and back-end industries such as weaving, clothing, home textile, knitting and industrial textiles, and promote the coordinated development of the whole industrial chain of textile and clothing.
