Industrial Cluster: 34 Dominant Cotton Producing Counties Are Identified In Xinjiang

Recently, it was learned that the Department of Agriculture and Rural Affairs of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, together with the Forestry and Grassland Bureau of the Autonomous Region, in combination with the actual agricultural production in Xinjiang, will clarify the distribution of grain producing counties, advantageous cotton producing areas, livestock production, dominant varieties and main technologies in the autonomous region in 2024.

35 counties (cities) with an average grain output of more than 400 million jin (200000 tons) or a grain planting area of more than 300000 mu in the past five years were identified as major grain producing counties. There are 17 in northern Xinjiang, including Emin, Qitai, Tacheng, etc., and 18 in southern Xinjiang, including Shache, Yecheng, Baicheng, etc.

For these 35 major grain producing counties, Xinjiang will implement dynamic management according to the average grain output or area in the past five years. In recent five years, the average cotton planting area has exceeded 50000 mu, and 34 counties (cities, districts) in the cotton suitable areas have been identified as the dominant main cotton producing counties (cities, districts). Dynamic management is implemented according to the average cotton planting area in recent five years.

For the dominant varieties and layout, the dominant varieties are selected according to the comprehensive performance of the promotion area, ecological adaptability, yield, etc. of the crop varieties, and the layout is carried out according to the planting area.

Xinjiang has identified ten key technologies, namely, high-yield and dense planting technology, dry sowing and wet seeding technology, high-efficiency water fertilizer integration technology, whole process precision regulation technology, green prevention and control technology, no tillage and reseeding technology, orchard simplified cultivation and management technology, fruit tree variety improvement technology, sex controlled fertilization technology, and cotton straw feed based dephenolization technology.
