Beijing Middle School Students Investigate Waste Shoes Pollution

Every year, hundreds of millions of waste shoes do not have specialized recycling departments, but the material composition of shoes itself is an environmental predator.

In the Beijing Youth Science and technology innovation competition held yesterday, several junior middle school students from Beijing 35 called for the disposal of waste shoes.

Luo Hao of Beijing 35 found that a family had 5.17 pairs of shoes thrown away on average a year after its own social survey. If we calculate at least two hundred million families in China, we will throw away about 1 billion pairs of shoes every year.

Most of the soles of sports shoes, travel shoes and slippers are rubber and synthetic materials, which will cause serious pollution to the environment.

In the questionnaire survey of waste recycling station and refuse collection station, the answer was that the recycling and disposal of waste shoes were not specifically targeted.
