The researchers used alginate extracted from kelp as raw material to combine the high tensile and alginate forming of alginate polymer, and obtained the seaweed fiber with high strength and good performance. The independent intellectual property rights of various links in the production of alginate fiber were obtained. In the first place, a pilot production line of seaweed marine fiber pilot was independently developed and designed in China, which made technical preparations for further engineering and industrialization.

Our country consumes 60 million tons of fiber every year. The way of production is, on the one hand, the natural plant and its regenerated fibers, such as cotton, linen, wool and silk, which occupy the land. On the other hand, it is synthetic fiber derived from petroleum.

With the development of economy and population growth, the acquisition of fiber is more and more restricted by land and oil resources.

At the same time, China is the world's largest seaweed breeding country, seaweed chemical products are very rich.

Alginate fiber, which is made from alginate, has opened up a vast space for the deep processing of seaweed industry. At the same time, the field of fiber extraction from China has expanded from land to ocean, opening up the third source of textile fiber.

It is reported that alginate fiber fabrics will have broad application prospects in high-grade health care clothing, children's toys, fire protection, medical treatment, military and environmental protection.
