Analysis Of Pakistan'S Textile And Garment Export In 2007-08
Analysis of Pakistan's textile and garment export in 2007-08
Some export enterprises should consider:
A) is their existing market or the market they are interested in growing or decreasing? If they grow, they should try to understand why buyers in that country are willing to buy Pakistan products or use their claims to persuade existing consumers or new consumers, thereby increasing the number of orders.
B) if exporters' exports are declining, they must discuss with consumers how to do better and how to provide a model for learning the overall growth of Pakistan's exports. They should establish mutual help relationship with the buyer.
C) in the case of (b), the exporter should reconsider the management of the seller, and at the same time establish a cooperative relationship with the seller to set up the deadline for improving the product quality.
D) if goods are not exported to a country, but their products are growing locally, they should strive to establish new consumer groups.
E) which markets are growing faster, which means that Pakistan is in the right direction. This is the opportunity to consider market diversification; if an exporter withdraws from the market and the growth rate is very significant, these markets provide growth opportunities.
The above are some strategic marketing measures, but exporters must seriously analyze their own position and take appropriate measures.
In the 6 months ending December 2007, total textile and garment exports amounted to US $5 billion 200 million. A decrease of US $280 million over the same period last year. In the 5 billion 200 million US dollars, exports accounted for almost 2 billion 700 million of the total growth of the country, and 2 billion 500 million of the countries whose exports fell.
Pakistan's total export growth increased by US $128 million. The total number of exports decreased by US $408 million, a net decrease of US $280 million. Looking at textiles and clothing, Pakistan's exports grew by 128 million US dollars, of which Italy was 20 million US dollars, Turkey 30 million US dollars, Holland 18 million US dollars, and other non-traditional markets (other countries) grew by US $21 million. It is noteworthy that the non-traditional market accounted for 21 million US dollars in overall growth, with an overall growth of US $128 million. This shows that exporters have made efforts to develop new markets with the support of the Pakistan Trade Development Council (TDAP). In the countries with a reduction of US $104 million in exports, Pakistan exported US $311 million, exported US $49 million to Hongkong, exported US $12 million to Saudi Arabia, and exported US $10 million to China.
From the total scale of textile and clothing, only 9 countries actually reduced exports in Pakistan last year. In all non-traditional export markets (other countries), there were 8 countries with flat exports last year. But the largest reduction in exports is in the US, China, Canada and Hongkong, and the growth in exports to other countries and regions can not make up for the reduction in these countries.
Obviously, Pakistan lacks competitiveness. The government must pay attention to it (give short-term support) and give short-term and long-term support to private enterprises. Whether you like it or not, today's national economic activities such as GDP growth, export scale, employment population, welfare of agricultural tax people, welfare of women in rural areas and so on are all highly dependent on the textile and clothing industries in Pakistan. In order to solve these problems, the government has done a lot of work, but there is still more work to be done. The question is not whether Pakistan can do it, but whether Pakistan can do it.
There is no doubt that 1999-2005 years of rapid development of textile and clothing exports (8 years' growth of more than 5 billion US dollars) has brought income and cash flow to the government and the textile industry.
The problems that Pakistan needs to solve include expanding cotton production, minimizing cotton pollution, improving production capacity, improving technology and raising cotton standards. Through research and development of new cotton seeds, we encourage increased value-added, expand the scale of clothing production, train human resources, introduce ICT into the textile industry, improve technology and marketing through joint ventures and overseas direct investment, and improve management capabilities. Today, income has not grown, government taxes are facing pressure to expand investment, and the days of both government and private enterprises are not good.
