Vietnam'S Clothing Exports Grew Strongly In The First Four Months Of This Year.

In the first four months of this year, Vietnam's clothing exports reached $2 billion 600 million, up 24.5% from the same period last year.

According to Vietnam's Ministry of trade and industry, in April, Vietnam's clothing export revenue reached 700 million US dollars, an increase of 11.8% over March.

Vietnam's clothing sector focuses on investment in material production, in an effort to provide value for export clothing.

The Vietnam garment and textile group (Vinatex), jointly with the Vietnam National Oil and Natural Gas Corp, raised 2 trillion Vietnamese Dong (125 million US dollars) to produce polyester from petrochemical products in the Dinh Vu Industrial Park, Haiphong city.

Vietnam textile and Garment Group appealed to foreign investors to establish three polyester factories in the southern Dong Nai and Binh Duong province.

In order to reach 4.5-5 million hectares of cotton fields in 2010, Vietnam textile and Garment Group develops cotton growers in Ninh Thuan Province, Binh Thuan Province, Dak Lak Province, Quang Ngai province and Dong Nai province.

After these projects are completed, Vietnam's textile and garment sector is expected to meet 15%-20%'s Polyester demand in 2009 and meet 50% polyester demand in 2012.
