China Enters The Era Of Internet Marketing
At the "2008 New Economic Summit Forum" held in Shenzhen, Robin Li, the head of Baidu, pointed out: "when China's Internet enters the marketing era, the economic value generated by the Internet is the driving force for the prosperity and growth of the Internet. The most direct benefit that the Internet marketing value can bring to the enterprise is the demand of the sustainable development of the Internet industry, and it is also an inevitable trend."
Robin Li made in-depth exchanges and discussions with the participants from all walks of life on hot topics such as how to achieve development goals through innovation in the new economic environment.
Robin Li said that after the first three waves of portal websites, online games and community websites, the Internet has entered the fourth wave, that is, the marketing stage. With the increasingly close relationship between the Internet and the overall operation of the social economy, search engine as the most important platform for enterprise marketing innovation has attracted more and more enterprises' attention and recognition.
For Internet companies who have not yet found the profit model still starving, Robin Li said that many industries will have a prosperous situation when they just started to rise, but as the industry matures, there will be integration, and the Internet will also undergo such a process.
He even predicted that there would be no special Internet Co in 5 years.
He explained that at that time, all companies had to do business through the Internet, and the competitiveness of the Internet industry would gradually weaken. Making the technology of the website itself was very easy, but it was not easy to do well, depending on what kind of business opportunities the company could make use of the network. In the future, the Internet Co would be fewer and fewer.
Robin Li also predicted that after a few years, every Chinese enterprise's market department would have a SEM Department (Search Engine Markin, search engine marketing department).
The reason for his prediction is that search engine marketing has become a mainstream marketing mode in foreign enterprises.
"From a global perspective, the help of the Internet is largely achieved by search engines.
More and more European and American enterprises have integrated their search and marketing related work into a new Department called SEM.
Robin Li believes that search technology is changing the two core sectors of an enterprise, the market department and the sales department.
The market department can understand the market dynamics more comprehensively and timely through search engines, penetrate into the needs of customers, and make more effective marketing communication to potential customers. The sales department can directly acquire more new customers and new orders with the help of search engines, change the traditional sales model, and realize the dream of staying at home and sitting on business opportunities.
Robin Li also said that Baidu has a customer engaged in mining machinery heavy equipment manufacturing. Since 2004, it has started search engine marketing, and has set up a search marketing department with more than 60 people. It has been engaged in market tracking and customer demand analysis, search engine keyword delivery, line customer service communication, website traffic analysis and so on. Now, the direct revenue from search engine has exceeded 20 million yuan a year, which has made the enterprise develop rapidly.
In addition, many people in the forum say that China Internet Corporation, including Baidu and Tencent, will be the biggest beneficiaries of the next phase of China's Internet innovation blowout. Although e-mail, instant messaging, portals, C2C network pactions, search engines, video sharing and other Internet applications are almost born in the United States, with the change of the macro environment, China will become the next wave of innovation base for Internet applications.
