    On the occasion of the upcoming conference on "green washing technology for jeans washing, energy saving, emission reduction and efficiency enhancement" sponsored by China Cotton Textile Industry Association, textile and clothing weekly interviewed Xu Wenying, vice president of China Textile Industry Association and chairman of China Cotton Textile Industry Association.

    Textile and clothing weekly: what is the significance of energy saving and emission reduction for the development of yarn dyed jeans industry?

    Xu Wenying: facing the situation of high cost and low profit margin in the textile industry, energy saving and emission reduction is not only the need for healthy development and structural adjustment of the industry, but also the need for enterprises to shoulder social responsibilities.

    At present, China's textile industry energy saving and emission reduction work is facing greater pressure. The textile industry wastewater discharge accounts for 7.5% of the national industrial wastewater discharge volume, of which printing and dyeing (including yarn dyed denim) wastewater accounts for 80% of the total textile industry wastewater discharge.

    The total amount of wastewater discharged from dyeing industry (including yarn dyed denim) is fifth of the total emissions of the manufacturing industry in China. The water consumption per unit product of printing and dyeing enterprises is about three times that of the developed countries, while the water reuse rate is only 7% behind that of the manufacturing industry. From this statistical point of view, the printing and dyeing industry (including yarn dyed denim) belongs to the industries with high energy consumption, high water consumption and high pollution. Under the situation of energy shortage, water shortage and environmental pollution worsening, grasping the energy saving, emission reduction, clean production and reuse of water resources is the top priority of the printing and dyeing industry (including colored denim), which affects the healthy development of the industry and the rise and fall of enterprises.     Textile and clothing weekly: what is the key point of energy saving and emission reduction in yarn dyed jeans industry?

    Xu Wenying: from the point of view of the cotton textile industry's production characteristics, the key point of energy saving is to save electricity, and the key point of the reduction is dyed weaving cowboy cloth.

    And the main points of the yarn dyed denim industry are two main points: first, environmental protection slurry; and the two is to adopt advanced energy saving and emission reduction technology.

    Environmental pulp is the material source of emission reduction. China Cotton Textile Industry Association attaches great importance to the use and promotion of environmental protection slurry. Since 1996, it has proposed "use less, do not use PVA". Now, this concept has formed a consensus and has achieved success in applied technology.

    At present, we should accelerate the pace of "no use of PVA" to "do not use PVA". As long as there is a coordinated combination of sizing and sizing technology and all-round innovation in textile sizing, there will be more and more PVA replacing the sizing technology in production, which will play a greater role in reducing the discharge of printing and dyeing wastewater.

    From the perspective of association, we have extensively recruited advanced technology for energy saving and emission reduction for the society, and paid close attention to the changes in new technologies at home and abroad, and held relevant seminars in a timely manner.

    The seminar on energy saving, emission reduction and efficiency enhancement will be held in Guangzhou in August 20th. The purpose is to promote the application and promotion of energy saving and emission reduction technologies in the industry.

    Xu Wenying: yarn dyed denim industry is the focus of energy saving and emission reduction in cotton textile industry, and washing process is the most important reason, mainly because the energy consumption is large and the amount of waste water generated is large.

    The development and application of advanced production technology for energy saving, emission reduction and synergy has been the goal of industry and enterprises.

    Dow Corning GP8000 softener is used as a silicone softener in the washing process of jeans garment. It is the most widely used fiber smoothing agent at present. It develops very fast, and its toxicity and biodegradability are all in line with environmental protection requirements.

    In November 2007, Dow Corning company began to carry out the process test in the production process of jeans production enterprises in China. The usability of the product was demonstrated in water, steam, time and employment.

    From the data of the test, the product can save about 30% and save 20% to 40% of the time. Therefore, it can increase the production capacity of the factory. It is better than the traditional technology in the dyeing and finishing performance and water repellency. It can give the jeans a dry and soft handle. The physical and chemical indexes such as rubbing fastness and the traditional technology are even or improved.

    GP8000 softener has been successfully used in the washing production line for nearly half a year after its success in the experiment. The theme of this green water washing process is discussed. The aim is to exchange experience widely, accelerate the industrialization process of GP8000 softeners, and promote the dyed weaving industry to reduce costs, save energy and reduce emissions.
