The acquisition of summer cocoons has ended. Due to unfavorable factors such as oversupply and poor export market, this year's cocoon market in Jiaxing has shown a low yield, short acquisition time and a sharp fall in prices.

Reporters learned from the relevant departments that the price of summer cocoons in Jiaxing decreased by more than 30% this year, and many cocoon farmers suffered serious losses.

Jiaxin cocoon silk Co., Ltd. is a large cocoon purchasing company in Jiaxing. According to Zhou Jinhai, deputy general manager of the company, the company bought 1980 tons of summer cocoons last summer, but this year only bought 454 shares, and the purchase volume decreased by 77%.

According to the monitoring data of the city price monitoring center, the price of cocoon in the city is about 480 yuan per 50 kilograms this year, which is 33.3% lower than that of 720 yuan per 50 kg in the same period last year.

Affected by this effect, the number of silkworm seed production decreased from 49990 last year to 23000 this year, with a decrease of 54%.

This year, Xu Chuanjin, a large silkworm farmer in Zhuang village, Wang Dian Town, Xiuzhou District, turned all the 15 mu mulberry gardens into soybeans.

Xu Chuanjin told reporters that since the beginning of large-scale silkworm rearing for two years, except for the first quarter autumn silkworms in the second half of 2006, they have been losing money in other periods.

This year, the purchase price of Xia cocoon is less than 500 yuan per load, and Xu Chuanjin lost 12000 yuan.

Xu Chuanjin said: "cutting down mulberry soybean is also reducing the burden, because it is really unable to sustain."

Wu Yuanzhong, a staff member of the city price monitoring center, thinks that the main reason why the price of summer cocoons has dropped sharply is that the quality is not high and the export market is bad.

Wu Yuanzhong said: "because silkworm farming sericulture is not enthusiastic, management is worse than previous years, plus climate and other reasons, the cocoon quality of summer cocoons is poor.

In addition, this year's decline in the efficiency of garment enterprises has a great impact on the silk industry in Jiaxing, and the demand for summer cocoons has decreased, which has affected the price of summer cocoons.
