The 2008 Edition Of Eco Textile Standard Comes Into Effect.

    Eco Textiles

The 2008 edition of the Oeko-Tex Standard100 eco textile standard is based on the 2007 research results of the international environmental protection textile association, taking into account the international textile market situation and development trend. Combined with the changes of laws and regulations in various regions of the world, the results of the Oeko-TexStandard100 eco textile standard revision are revised.

According to the introduction, the Oeko-Tex Standard100 standard test project now covers more than 100 independent test parameters, including not only chemicals harmful to human health and potential hazards, but also hazardous substances that endanger health.

It is understood that the new revision of the standard changes include: formaldehyde content limit value from the original 20ppm revised to 16ppm; pesticide banned list added six kinds of chlorinated organic pesticides; bioactive substances from the original fourth level of textiles used to be revised for all grades of textiles banned; asbestos fiber was included in the "banned fiber list" and so on 7 items.

Oeko-Tex Standard100 stipulates the testing of acid, alkali, formaldehyde, pesticides and herbicides, heavy metals and harmful dyes in textiles, and sets different limits for chemicals and dyestuffs according to the category of products.

Experts from the inspection and quarantine department believe that on export garments, there are all kinds of labels: price tag, brand label, size label, ingredient label, nursing label and environmental label.

Environmental labels have gained worldwide recognition for their unique properties and functions.

Obtaining environmental labeling certification may be a new way to break out of textile and clothing export.

Oeko-TexStandard100 is currently recognized as an authoritative ecological textile standard in the global textile industry. Many large buyers in Europe and America regard the Oeko-TexStandard100 standard as the technical basis for product procurement. The product certified through this certification is known as "confidence textiles".

All manufacturers and distributors who are related to the production and sale of textiles can apply for Oeko-Tex Standard100 certification on products.

It includes fibers, yarns, grey fabrics, accessories, garments, and dyeing and finishing products and other textile related producers and distributors.

Certification applications need to be presented to the member bodies of the international environmental textile association.

The procedures for Oeko-Tex Standard100 certification application are simple, and the application companies will be successfully completed under the guidance of the certification bodies.

For garment manufacturers, the ideal way to apply for certification is to establish an environmental friendly textile supply chain from cloth to thread, buttons, zippers and other main accessories.

This will not only greatly reduce the cost of application for garment manufacturers, but also make garment producers bear responsibility for the quality control of the certified clothing products separately from their suppliers.
