Today I Know What Is Platon's Love.
One day, Platon asked Socrates: what is love? Socrates said, "I asked you to cross this paddy field to pick up the biggest and most golden wheat spike, but there is a rule: you can't walk backwards, and you can only pick it once. So Platon did it. After a long time, he came back with empty hands. Socrates asked him how he came back empty handed. Platon said: when I was walking in the field, I saw several very large and especially brilliant wheat ears. But I always thought that there might be bigger and better things in front of them, so that I did not pick them. But when I continued to walk, I saw that wheat ears were not as good as they had seen before, so I finally did not pick anything. Socrates said meaningfully: This is love.
Another day, Platon asked Socrates: what is marriage?
Socrates said, "I ask you to cross the woods and cut down the thickest and strongest tree to put in the house to make a Christmas tree. But there is a rule: you can't go backwards, and you can only cut it once.
So Platon did it.
After a long time, he brought back a tree that was not the tallest, but also not to be counted on.
Socrates asked him why he had only chopped such a tree back.
Platon said: when I walked through the woods, I saw several very good trees. This time, I learned from the lesson of picking wheat grains and saw that the tree was not bad. I chose it. I was afraid I would not choose it, and I would miss the opportunity to cut trees and return empty handed, though it was not the best I had ever seen.
At this time, Socrates said meaningfully: This is marriage.
Another time, Platon asked Socrates: what is happiness?
Socrates said, "I ask you to cross the field to pick the most beautiful flower, but there is a rule: you can't walk backwards, and you can only pick it once.
So Platon did it.
After a long time, he came back with a beautiful flower.
Socrates asked him, "is this the most beautiful flower?"
Platon said, "when I walked across the field, I saw this beautiful flower. I picked it up and decided that it was the most beautiful. And when I saw many beautiful flowers later, I still insisted on my most beautiful belief and never wavered.
So I picked the most beautiful flowers.
At this time, Socrates said meaningfully: This is happiness.
One day, Platon asked the teacher, Socrates, what an affair was.
Socrates told him to go to the woods once.
You can go back and forth.
Pick up the best flower on the way.
Platon went out with confidence.
Two hours later, he brought back a colorful but slightly absent flower.
Socrates asked him, "is this the best flower?"
Platon replied to the teacher:
"I looked for two hours and found it to be the most beautiful flower, but when I took it back, it gradually withered."
At that time, Socrates told him:
"That's an affair."
One day I asked teacher Socrates what life is.
Socrates told him to go to the woods once.
You can go back and forth.
Pick up the best flower on the way.
Platon learned the lesson before.
And go out confidently.
After three days and three nights, he did not return.
Socrates had to go into the woods to find him, and finally found that Platon had built camp in the woods.
Socrates asked him, "are you looking for the best flower?"
Platon pointed to a flower on the side and said, "is this the best flower?"
Socrates asked, "why not take it out?"
Platon replied to the teacher:
If I pick it up, it will wither away.
Even if I don't pick it, it will dry up sooner or later.
So I lived on the edge of it when it was still in full bloom.
When it wither, look for the next one.
This is the second best looking flower I've ever looked for. "
At that time, Socrates told him:
"You already know the true meaning of life."
