Before May, the total value of foreign trade import and export amounted to 6 billion 966 million US dollars, an increase of 95.2%, which is 69 percentage points higher than the national average growth rate.

Second, border trade is growing strongly.

In the first half of May, the import and export of border trade reached 5 billion 92 million US dollars, an increase of 118.5%, accounting for 48.5% of the total imports and exports of the frontier trade.

Trade with Central Asian countries has developed rapidly. The top five countries of trade partners are Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan.

He Yi Ming: Xinjiang's foreign trade will continue to maintain rapid development.

It is predicted that the world economic growth will reach 3.7% in 2008, and the main trading partner countries in our region will continue to grow. The growth of GDP in Kazakhstan, Russia and Kyrgyzstan is over 6%, and will enter the era of strong consumption.

From the perspective of trade structure, Xinjiang's export scale is larger than that of imports.

The most exported commodities are clothing, textile products, shoes, mechanical and electrical products, bags, PVC, agricultural products, plastic products and so on. 16 commodities include iron ore, electromechanical products and agricultural products.

Reporter: what unique advantages does Xinjiang's foreign trade have in the whole country?

He Yiming: geopolitical advantage.

China is adjacent to 14 countries, 8 of which are bordering on Xinjiang.

Xinjiang accounts for 52% of the total import and export trade of Kazakhstan, and Xinjiang is the most important land access for China's opening up to the outside world, facing the bridgehead of Central Asia, Western Asia and South Asia.

Language superiority.

There are 47 ethnic groups living in Xinjiang. There are many similarities in customs, consumption habits, language, and other neighboring countries, such as Kazakh and Kyrgyzstan, which are very convenient for trading.

Ho Yi Ming: business opportunities are limitless. This is an important channel for China to face many countries in Central Asia, Western Asia and South Asia. The economic complementarity is very strong. Most of the Central Asian countries are resource exporting countries, light industry is backward, and there is a great demand for Chinese food, clothing, footwear and other daily necessities, while China mainly imports crude oil, ingot and other raw materials from Central Asia, and the trade potential is huge.

Trade diversification can avoid risks.

70% of the products exported here are produced in the eastern region. For example, the largest export products in recent years are clothing, shoes and hats, textiles, electrical and mechanical, building materials, agricultural products, and so on.
