Pakistan Clothing Forum Mentioned: Prohibit The Export Of Lint.

The Pakistan clothing Forum (PAF) asked the federal government to ban Pakistan's lint export.

The Pakistan clothing forum is an organization of various textile and garment sector organizations, including the Pakistan knitwear manufacturers association, Pakistan garment manufacturers and Exporters Association, Pakistan cotton fashion garment manufacturers and Exporters Association. They jointly asked the government to immediately restrict the export of cotton, in order to save the garment industry from the crisis.

Mr. Barry, chairman of the Pakistan clothing forum, said that the annual cotton consumption in China is about 15 million 500 thousand packs, while the total cotton output in the 2007-08 cotton season is about 12 million 600 thousand bales.

At this stage, the export of cotton from Pakistan is equivalent to destroying the clothing industry.

Pakistan imports about 50 billion rupees per year, which is less than 350-400 packages of cotton.

Barry said that the value added clothing industry has faced many problems. Recently, exporting 10 thousand bales of cotton to India has seriously shocked the garment industry, which will lead to the collapse of the garment industry.

At present, cotton prices in Pakistan have risen sharply from 2700-3000 rupees / Mende to 4200 rupees / Mende, and the price of raw cotton is still growing again.

Barry said that exporters of medium size have no capacity to store cotton and meet the requirements of export orders throughout the year, which will make their clothing's financial costs rise sharply.

Lint exports from Pakistan will make the entire clothing sector at a disadvantage and will make it difficult for them to complete their export commitments.
