Experts Advise Indonesia To Strengthen Management Of Smuggled Textiles Imports

An economic observer said the Indonesian government needs to take measures to strengthen the management of smuggled textiles and textile products entering Indonesia because of the economic crisis in the United States, and the smuggling products that flow into Indonesia may increase.

On Wednesday, Ina Primiana of Padjadjaran University said that many countries exported textile and textile products to the United States, and because of the closure of the US export market, the exporters might export their products to Indonesia through smuggling channels.

The United States is the main market for textile and textile products exported from Asia and Europe.

After the reduction of textile and textile products trade in the United States, these producers will turn their exports to new markets, and Indonesia will have a large population and will become their target.

She said Indonesia should act ahead of time to protect its textile and textile products market and not allow smuggled products to pour into Indonesia.

At present, the global economic environment has forced exporters to find alternative markets for their textile products, she said.

This poses a threat to Indonesia's textiles and textile products.

But as long as we strengthen management at home, Indonesia's textile products may survive and reduce the impact of the economic crisis.
