Us Releases Statistics On Textile Imports In January 09
According to statistics released by the US Department of Commerce and textiles and clothing office (OTEXA), in January 2009, the United States imported 3 billion 770 million square meters of textiles and clothing from the world, down 8.9% from the same period last year, the amount of US $6 billion 990 million, down 8.5% compared with the same period last year. The import of 1 billion 600 million square meters from China decreased by 4% compared with the same period last year, the amount of US $2 billion 660 million, up 2.6% over the same period last year.
The share of China's total imports from the United States increased from 40.2% in 2008 to 42.4% in 2009, and its share in total imports rose from 34% in 2008 to 38.1% in 2008.
