    Product innovation and product planning are the first stage of new product development process. In this stage, we must integrate information on market opportunities, competitiveness, technological feasibility, production needs, and so on, and determine the framework of new products.

    This includes the conceptual design, market research and feasibility analysis of new products.


    Conceptual design is the first problem to be solved in new product development. In this process, a new product framework is proposed.

    The most important problem in the conceptual design stage is the new product development strategy or product conception. Taking the right new product development strategy or product conception is one of the prerequisites for the success of the new product development. Generally speaking, the new product development strategy can be based on the following points: (1) starting from the needs of consumers.

    (2) from the function of mining products, new functions will be given on the basis of existing products.

    (3) start with improving the competitiveness of products.


    Market analysis refers to a comprehensive and concise analysis of the overall market environment faced by new product development.

    This process must take into account the two factors inside and outside the enterprise, which can be summed up in the following three aspects: (1) technical conditions.

    (2) demand conditions.

    This analysis includes the following factors: customers' expectations of products, customers' consumption psychology and motivation, customers' consumption habits and market consumption level.

    (3) environmental constraints.

    This condition can be classified into four categories: the economic environment, the natural environment, the social cultural environment and the political and legal environment.


    Feasibility study.

    Its scope varies from product type to process complexity.

    Generally speaking, the feasibility study includes two aspects:


    Detailed requirements analysis, namely, analysis of new product production process or system operation and maintenance requirements, including the process of tasks and scope, performance parameters, operation deployment, operation life cycle, use requirements, efficiency factors, environmental constraints;


    Preliminary process analysis, after determining the operation and maintenance requirements of the process, to make the system function, must further target specific equipment, software and logistical support according to the requirements of system operation and maintenance. The targets can be quantitative or qualitative.


    Then, under the guidance of this set of objectives, we investigate and study various kinds of different technical methods that can meet the process requirements and decide whether the process is going on or not. We choose the best plan and submit the results of feasibility study, and the results of feasibility study are generally submitted to the management department in the form of technical proposal, including: the definition of function structure and the physical characteristics of the system, and the explanation of system operation and maintenance requirements.
