What Is The German DIN Standard?

What Is The German DIN Standard?

    1. The German technical standard is the DIN standard promulgated by DIN Deutsches Institut Fuer Normung e.V..

The DIN standard is one of the most stringent standards in the world, which scientifically reflects the current situation of technology development. It takes the principles of voluntariness, openness, participation, unification, objectivity, economic needs, universal application and internationalization as the principles, and plays an irreplaceable role in promoting technological improvement and international trade development, promoting economic rationalization and internationalization.

    2. Safety standards in Germany

The German safety standard is an important part of the DIN standard. Most of the technical standards have provisions on safety issues, and safety standards are inter organizational, cross industry and cross-border security. The German standard research institute has a safety technology committee, which is composed of DIN, Federal Ministry of economy and labor, trade unions, employers' associations, big enterprises and insurance companies. It is responsible for macro policies and strategies. It observes, consults and coordinates all DIN Standards Committee's stipulations on safety issues on time. Many standards which are of great significance to production safety, sales and consumption are introduced into the legislature by laws and regulations, giving safety standards to the majesty of law and making them mandatory. Germany's "machine safety law" refers to about 1500 safety standards, ranging from toys, air compressor to complete sets of equipment and many other fields. Safety standards are widely regarded by the society, especially the attention of government departments. Many safety standards have been formulated, published and adopted by the government.

    3. Standard internationalization

    (1) the European standard is the DIN standard.
As early as the early 60s, the headquarters of the European Standard Committee (CEN) and the European Commission for electronic technology standards (CENELEC) were set up. The European Union and the European Free Trade Association (EU) are members of the two committee and work together to set up the European standard (EN). Thousands of European standards have been developed and published. As a representative of Germany, the German Standards Institute and the German Electronic Technology Committee (DKE), composed of it and the German Electrical Association (VDE), are members of CEN and CENELEC respectively. According to the regulations, standards should be formulated in the European context, and any European standard must be accepted by CEN/CENELEC members. Therefore, the formulation of the German national standard has been more oriented to the formulation of the European standard, and the European standard is the DIN standard, which is represented by Di en in Germany.

At the same time, the European Union and the European Free Trade Union countries coordinate their respective national standards, namely, to avoid or eliminate differences in technical content in terms of the same field or purpose, especially the differences that may lead to trade barriers. When products produced according to a national standard are deemed to conform to local standards without any changes in other countries, the mission of harmonizing standards is realized. This "coordination standard" also holds a place in German standards.
    (2) part of the international standard is the DIN standard.

The German standard committee is an important member of the international organization for Standardization (ISO) and the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) representing Germany. It has participated in the design and formulation of about 75% of the ten thousand international standards. As a member of the European standard organization, international standards adopted by the ISO and adopted by Europe as the European standard must be the German standard, with the symbol of Di EN ISO. At the same time, DIN can directly accept its recognized international standard into DIN standard, which is marked as DIN ISO.

Under the constraint of the agreement between the European Standards Committee (CEN) and the European Electrotechnical Commission (CENELEC) and ISO and IEC, the parties concerned should strengthen technical cooperation and avoid the establishment of the same standard at the same time. Before the establishment of the new standard, the European standard organization should first notify the international standard organization, and try to work out a wider range of applicable international standards as far as possible by the international standards organization and the European Union. About 40% of CEN's European standards now come from international standards; about 98% of CENELEC's standards are related to international standards. Under this situation, the focus of German standard work is no longer the formulation of national standards, but the cooperation with the European standard organization and the international standard organization. This will play a greater role in promoting standardization and rationalization and internationalization of technology and trade.
