China'S Textile And Garment Industry Is Facing Double Pressure.
As evergreen, chairman of the Beijing garment and textile industry association, said, the future clothing enterprises will no longer compare who sells the most and who sells the most expensive products, but depends on whose materials and processes are less harmful to the environment and who has less clothing carbon emissions, so as to win the favor of consumers and gain more market share.
China's textile and garment industry is facing the double "green" pressure at home and abroad. The clothing industry needs to find a completely new road, which is a completely recycling system without abandonment and no rest. In a word, low carbon and sustainable development. Unfortunately, such technology and market have not yet been formed in China. The Chinese government has announced that by 2020, the carbon dioxide emissions per unit of GDP will be 40% to 45% lower than that in 2005, and will be included as a binding index in the medium and long-term plan for national economic and social development. How can the textile and garment industry accomplish this task of reducing emissions?
There is another key factor that enables the public to participate in carbon emission reduction, that is, a set of "vigorous clothing". "Low carbon loading" means that everyone has a lower total carbon footprint in the process of consuming all garments, and more clothing is needed to increase the utilization rate of each garment. The change of people's consumption concept will bring new changes to the textile and garment industry and affect the "low carbon" level of the industry. Through a technology, the polyester fibers in the waste clothes can be chemically treated, the polyester raw materials can be reduced, and new polyester fibers can be regenerated to be used for new garment manufacturing. The choice of recyclable materials has become an important way for the garment industry to embark on a green low-carbon road.
What is the carbon emission of a garment? According to a survey, 35% of respondents bought clothes during the season, and 25% of them bought clothes every month or even every two weeks. This means that 60% of people buy new clothes at least every season. Most of the women who buy clothes are mostly young female consumers, and less than 15% of them buy new clothes only once a year. For the cycle of clothing, only 35% of respondents indicated that a garment should wear for more than 2 years, 28% of them wore 1~2 years, 25% of them wore 3 months to 1 years, and 12% of them wore a dress to wear only a few times.
What does this survey mean? With the improvement of living standards, our old clothes are rapidly increasing, and the waste and pollution behind them may also increase rapidly. The reason for this is that a garment from the production of raw materials to production, transportation, use and disposal after discarding, is emitting carbon dioxide and has a certain impact on the environment.
According to the environmental resource management company, a treaty of 400 grams of polyester pants, assuming that it produces raw materials in Taiwan, China, made garments in Indonesia, and finally shipped to the United Kingdom for sale. In the end, 47 kilograms of carbon will be discharged, which is 117 times its own weight.
