according to
European Union
Website (europa.eu) announcement, the European Commission issued the "potential trade restrictive measures (Sixth Edition)" to comprehensively assess the trade protection and restrictive measures adopted by the main partners of the EU from November 2009 to April 2010. The basic conclusions include: in 2010, there still exists the risk of second round of trade protection measures due to the increase in unemployment; the European Union
Trade
Partners introduced 73 new items.
Trade restrictive measures
The total number of trade restrictive measures has risen to 278, and the trend of protection measures has not been curbed. Less than 20 protective measures introduced in the crisis have been abolished, and the results are disappointing compared with the commitments made by the leaders of the G20 summit. The customs union of Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus, which started in January 1, 2010, will lead to the increase of most tariff levels in Russia. It is the most prominent example of protection measures; it still needs to pay attention to the measures of "buying the country" and discriminatory measures of government procurement; G20 countries need to re implement their commitments to cancel trade protection measures.
Among the new protection measures listed in the report, 3 are related to China: (1) the supporting measures for wind power generator manufacturing industry are being planned; (2) the restrictions on foreign purchases in public procurement; and (3) the list of self innovation product certification issued in November 2009.
In the list of potential trade restrictive measures, 19 items are involved in China, including 1 in textile and clothing, telecommunications, raw materials and shipbuilding industry, 2 in steel and nonferrous metals, automotive and service industries, and 9 in other industries.
