Luxury Consumption And China'S "Pseudo Rich Economy" Phenomenon

    2010/6/1 16:23:00 57

Recently, a report by the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences said that in the next 5 years, the Chinese will spend $14 billion 600 million to buy all kinds of luxuries. China will surpass Japan to become the largest market for luxury goods in the world.

As of December 2009, China's total consumption of luxury goods accounted for 27.5% of the world's total, and the first time it surpassed the United States and second only to Japan.

The report of the Academy of social sciences is, of course, only expected.

If the global luxury market is in the doldrums, China has become an indisputable fact that luxury goods companies are making a breakthrough. What is really intriguing is that the per capita national income is a yardstick for measuring the actual purchasing power and living standard of a country. At present, the world ranking of China's per capita national income is still 100%. According to China's development goal, it is only 5 years since 2020 that the well-off society has become the world's largest luxury consumer.

Survey data show that the average level of luxury consumption in the world is about 4% of its wealth, while in China, it is not uncommon to use "40% or more" to "ask for pain".

Whether we want to "luxury" is telling us that China has become the fastest growing country of luxury consumption in the world. It relies on not only the widening gap between the rich and the poor, but also the "rich economy" that is heavily rooted in the background.

It is not that the rich can afford to consume luxurious, but the problem is that the "rich economy" is not rich and extravagant.

There are many factors in the consumption of luxury goods in China, such as the extravagance of some rich people, the bombardment of foreign brands, the rise and fall of domestic exhibitions, and the popularity of the media, giving rise to peculiar consumer psychology and immature consumer market.

Under the overall framework of China's current economic situation, not rich and extravagant is a dance with fetters and fetters. It is a self deception to try to use this "alternative" way of consumption to show its worth.

The problem is that luxury is only a form of money, but it is only a banknote. The guarantee of the existing resources to the national economy has been very tight. The carrying capacity of the environment for economic development is rather fragile, and we can not afford to afford it.

Even if it is rich in the future, it will never dare to extravagance, because it is near to luxury.

In fact, even the extravagant consumption of the "rich economy" has highlighted the distortion of wealth ethics and the blind spot of tax levers in today's China.

On the one hand, the rich buy luxury goods, like buying vegetables. On the other hand, they are stingy in doing good deeds, exposing many deep-seated problems.

The rich and the poor in Europe and the United States often praise us, but we also need to see the background behind the "charity".

Britain, for example, has the highest estate tax rate of 98%.

The high estate tax rate is also an important reason for the rich people to donate more and leave less.

In our case, tax evasion and tax evasion are the "N pot of gold" for many rich people.

The first big luxury consumer's expectation is not glory but a problem. Can we face up to this problem?
