China'S Health Care Functional Textiles Standards Need To Be Improved

A few days ago, Zhou Bangyong, Deputy Secretary General of China Health Care Association, pointed out that in recent years, China's health care functional textiles have sprung up, and the total sales volume in 2009 has reached 13 billion 400 million US dollars, ranking only second in the world after the United States (14 billion 700 million US dollars).

However, the relevant standards of health functional textiles in China are still to be established and perfected.

Poor quality health care functional textiles can not only play a role in health care, or even harm to health.

Health care textiles refer to a type of textiles with far infrared functions, magnetic functions and antibacterial functions. They aim at regulating and improving body functions and not treating diseases.

Health care textiles are part of health care products, and sales in 2009 have exceeded health food.

According to Zhou Bangyong, at present, the health care functional textiles sold on the market are classified into more than 10 kinds of functional products, such as far infrared, antibacterial, magnetic, negative, anti radiation, anti thrombotic, and varicose veins according to their health functions. But so far, our country has formulated the Association standard for far red health care function, magnetic health function, antibacterial and health care functions, and so on, and there is no standard for other claimed functions.

Standards are missing, and products on the market may be mixed up. "Far infrared radiation may be seriously exceeded, and clothing coating is not comfortable," he said.

It is not only harmful to health, but also not conducive to the development of the industry.

Zhou Bangyong pointed out that the health care function textile industry has great potential for development, while establishing standards, we should combine our traditional Chinese medicine health preserving technology with the upstream actively developing new materials with health care functions. The middle reaches processing enterprises should also win in the United States while making products healthy and comfortable.
