The Oldest Leather Shoes Discovered 5500 Years Ago In Eastern Armenia

International archaeologists have recently found a well preserved right foot shoe in a cave in eastern Armenia. The shoes are made of a piece of leather and covered with patterns. Through radiocarbon determination, it has been discovered for more than 5500 years that the leather shoes are the oldest leather shoes in the world.

This leather shoe is made of a cow hide, 24.5 centimeters long and 7.6 to 10 centimeters wide. It is about 37 yards according to the present size standard. Because the size is small, scientists speculate that this is probably a woman's shoe.
 

According to AOL website, the oldest leather shoes in the world are found in Armenia. Scientists used radiocarbon to determine its "age", about 5387 to 5637 years. This is a right foot shoe, well preserved, made of a whole piece of leather with patterns.
