China'S Aid For The Relief Of Kyrgyzstan Refugees Arrived In Uzbekistan

A batch of humanitarian aid to Kyrgyzstan refugees from the Chinese government arrived in Tashkent, capital of Uzbekistan, in the early morning of 21.

A China Southern Airlines flight carrying humanitarian aid took off from Urumqi, China, and landed at Tashkent International Airport at 1:40 a.m. on the morning of 21.

These 22 tons of aid include food, clothing, sanitary products, small generators, shower rooms and medicines.

The supplies will then be shipped to the Uzbekistan border area where Kyrgyzstan refugees are being relocated.

Chinese ambassador to Uzbekistan Yu Hongjun delivered a speech at the airport, saying he hoped that the supplies could alleviate Uzbekistan's pressure to resettle refugees to a certain extent.

He said that China and Ukraine have become a tradition in helping each other when they are in trouble.

Data from the United Nations Office for the coordination of Humanitarian Affairs show that since the riots in southern Kyrgyzstan, about 100 thousand refugees in Kyrgyzstan have been pouring into neighboring Uzbekistan.
