Ramie Has Gone Through A Difficult Recovery This Year.

"Ramie industry has taken a hard road to recovery in 2009. At the present time, ramie has gradually recovered its sense of development. At the same time, the hidden danger of the development of this industry has been gradually revealed, which is concentrated on the cultivation of raw materials and the export of products."

At the national ramie textile annual meeting in 2010, the participants expressed their views on the development of ramie industry.

On June 9th ~11, sponsored by the China Textile Industry Association, the ramie Specialized Committee of China's Hemp textile association, and the 2010 annual national ramie textile annual conference jointly organized by Hunan Huasheng Zhuzhou cedar Co., Ltd. was held in Zhuzhou, Hunan.

At this annual meeting, the recovery of ramie industry and the direction of industrial development have become the focus of discussion.

Last July was the turning point.

The characteristics of ramie industry are mainly export.

Therefore, after the arrival of the international financial crisis in 2008, the ramie industry was in a difficult position.

In general, the situation of ramie is followed by flax, which is dubbed by the industry as "the look of linen on Ramie".

In the second half of 2009, linen export situation improved, and ramie also improved.

According to the monthly export situation of ramie textile products in 2009, the ramie yarn export situation in the second half of the year is better than the first half of the year.

According to Cheng Xiongwei, director of ramie Specialized Committee, China's Ramie Textile Association, 1~6 exported 685.68 tons of ramie yarn, accounting for only 37.95% of the total export volume.

Ramie yarn exported 1121.34 tons in the second half of the year, accounting for 62.05% of the total export volume.

December was the highest month for export in the whole year, and exported 295.44 tons of ramie yarn.

The export trend of ramie fabric is basically consistent with the trend of ramie yarn export. The export situation in the second half of the year is better than the first half of the year. The export of ramie fabric in the second half of the year is 36 million 727 thousand and 300 meters, accounting for 45.42% of the total export volume in the year, 44 million 127 thousand and 700 meters in the second half of the year, accounting for 54.58% of the total export volume of the year.

In December, the export value reached 13 million 635 thousand and 300 meters, and the total export increased 31.93% year-on-year.

Judging from the overall development of the industry, ramie textile exports began to pick up gradually in July 2009.

July is the turning point. After July, the ramie industry has gradually improved.

Since 2010, the economic operation of ramie industry has gradually increased.

Ramie products exports grew rapidly, ramie exports 25 million 706 thousand and 300 meters in 1~3 months, an increase of 102.21% over the same period last year, the export amount was $61 million 388 thousand and 600, an increase of 164.04% over the same period last year, and the average unit price was 2.39 US dollars / M, up 31.32% over the same period last year.

1~3 exported 402.8 tons of ramie yarn in the month of 1~3, an increase of 9.88% over the same period last year, and the export value of US $2 million 410 thousand, an increase of 16.6% over the same period last year. The average unit price was 5.98 US dollars / kg, up 6.03% over the same period last year.

After the export situation has improved, ramie enterprises have more capital and energy to invest in technology development, product innovation and industrial chain extension.

So we found that such a phenomenon, ramie yarn exports decreased year by year, ramie fabric exports increased year by year, ramie export product structure has undergone great changes.

In the past, the export of ramie was mainly yarn, but now it has been changed to fabric.

Ramie yarn exports began to decline for 7 consecutive years in 2003. Ramie yarn exported to 33450 tons in 2002, and 1807 tons of ramie yarn exported in 2009.

Ramie textile exports stabilized and rebounded in 2009. Despite the economic crisis, ramie fabric exports increased by 31.93% over the previous year.

Hidden dangers in raw material development

Ramie is known as "China grass", and its raw materials are unique to China.

Ramie raw materials are mainly cultivated in Hunan and Sichuan. The planting area of the two provinces is 555 thousand mu, and the output is 50 thousand and 400 tons, accounting for 69.8% and 71.7% of the national total respectively.

Among them, the planting area of ramie in Hunan is 315 thousand mu, and the output is 50 thousand and 400 tons, accounting for 39.6% and 40.6% of the total respectively.

Sichuan province has an area of 240 thousand mu and an output of 36 thousand tons, accounting for 30.2% and 29% of the national total respectively.

For many years, the development of ramie raw materials can be described by ups and downs.

In 2009, the planting area of ramie has fallen to the lowest level since 2000.

In the past 10 years, the area of ramie raw material has generally formed a curve trend from the trough to the peak and then to the trough.

The valley was in 2000 and 2009 respectively. The planting area was 1 million 50 thousand mu and 800 thousand mu respectively.

The peak is 2006, and the planting area is 1 million 990 thousand mu.

The planting area is closely related to the price of ramie raw materials.

The price of ramie raw materials decreased, the price of other agricultural products increased, and the comparative benefits of ramie planting decreased significantly. Many traditional ramie planting areas were replanted to other crops, and the planting area of ramie raw materials was reduced.

Ramie raw material prices continued to decline after 2008 in 2009.

Ramie raw material planting area is about 800 thousand mu (the planting area is about 1 million 500 thousand mu) in 2008. The total output is about 120 thousand tons (the total output is about 220 thousand tons in 2008).

Planting area and output decreased by 46.7% and 45.5% respectively.

Ramie raw material prices remain low in the whole year.

The maximum price is 5600 yuan / ton, the lowest price is 5200 yuan / ton, the annual average price is 5350 yuan / ton, compared with 2008, the average price of raw materials decreased by 15%.

No significant breakthrough has been made in Ramie Breeding.

According to Professor Jie Yucheng, Professor of ramie Research Institute of Hunan Agricultural University, at present, Ramie Breeding in China is in a bottleneck.

Over the years, ramie yield has been greatly improved through the efforts of breeders, but many quality traits including fineness have not been greatly improved.

The quality characters of ramie are very important for ramie production.

According to the person in charge of a hemp production enterprise, ramie Ma Ma produced from high quality raw materials and ramie Ma Ma produced from low quality raw materials cost half of the price.

Since 2010, the economic operation of ramie industry has gradually increased.

Ramie raw material prices rebounded.

By the end of May, the average price of ramie raw materials has risen to 6000 yuan / ton. Ramie textile enterprises have been increasing in operation rate, with sufficient orders.

The road of ramie recovery has begun.

After ramping up this hard won road of recovery, we hope that through the active efforts of all colleagues in the industry, we can finally eliminate the hidden danger of raw material development.

Because we know that if ramie planting problems are not fundamentally resolved, then the road to recovery will be full of setbacks and frustrations.
