Some of the clothes that emit peculiar smell contain chemicals. For example, textiles use azo dyes containing carcinogenic aromatic amines. In the long term contact with humans, dyes can be absorbed and spread by the skin, causing human diseases and inducing cancer.

The pigment printing fabric can smell residual kerosene, and the fabric processed by resin can emit fishy smell. Some coated fabrics can retain the peculiar smell of various solvents.

And formaldehyde is relatively high in clothing, formaldehyde will gradually release, it will produce strong stimulation to human respiratory tract mucosa and skin, light will cause skin allergy, appear skin redness, itching and so on, heavy will occur tracheitis and other diseases.

Some dyestuffs that are dyed with acid or alkali are also harmful to the human body.

The skin of the human body is neutral or weak acidic. If the pH value of the fabric is too high or too low, it will damage the skin's balance and resistance, and cause skin allergy or induce infection.

Because of poor color fastness, dyes on clothing can be dissolved into sweat or pferred to the skin through friction during movement.

After carcinogenic dyes are made into clothes, they are colorless and tasteless, and consumers can not identify them at all.

In a low-grade women's clothing stalls at the wholesale clothing market in Lotus Pond, the reporter put forward azo dyes carcinogenesis. Reporters interviewed a number of consumers, and found that most people do not understand the carcinogenic problem of azo dyes.

"Buying clothes will usually look at the fabric, style, whether it fits well or not. Generally, it does not take into consideration whether there are toxic chemicals."

Another woman, who is more careful in buying clothes, said that she would pay attention to the formaldehyde content on the label, or other safety instructions, but did not know that there would be more toxic substances in the clothes than formaldehyde, and never asked the merchant to provide proof of the quality inspection of the products.

The quality supervision department reminds consumers that products sold by large commercial enterprises and products with high popularity.

In addition, the newly purchased fabric products should be washed before wearing water or put in a well ventilated place for a period of time before wearing it. The products with severe color loss, especially towel products, should be checked by the fiber inspection institution of the quality and Technical Supervision Bureau to ensure that they are dressed well and wear well.
