Chen Ronghui said with emotion, at present, the development of China's leather industry is mainly due to extensive growth, low level expansion, weak capability of independent innovation and high dependence on exports.

To solve these problems, it is not enough to rely solely on the strength of an enterprise or government.

"The purpose of our leather association is to provide self-discipline supervision and industry services for the leather industry in the whole city. We hope to unite the leather manufacturing enterprises in Quanzhou area, strengthen industrial strength, and actively respond to the industrial problems such as rising prices of domestic raw materials, intensifying the price war on domestic leather products, and promoting the common development of the whole industry."

Chen Ronghui said that in recent years, the leather products industry in Quanzhou has grown stronger, especially by the radiation and drive of the footwear industry in Jinjiang. The demand for leather products in the city has been increasing.

However, scattered and single leather enterprises are thin after all, and it is imperative to establish trade associations.

Project driven technological assault

As the Fujian leather industry was first identified by the Fujian provincial economic and Trade Commission, the provincial finance department and other seven departments as a provincial-level enterprise technology center, Feng an leather joint stock company has new products every two months.

In order to clean production and recycle waste liquid, under the personal control of Chen Ronghui, Feng an developed tannery biological pre-treatment technology, replacing some chemical methods with biotechnology instead of strengthening the pretreatment of leather making process, and developing an environmental water bath hair removal method, which greatly reduced the amount of sulphide and lime, and discharged pollutants such as COD and sulphide in sewage, thus greatly reducing the difficulty and cost of sewage treatment.

"Now, the peak annex leather wastewater recycling rate reaches 35%, and the recovery rate of sewage will reach more than 50% by the end of this year, and it is expected to achieve zero emissions in two or three years."

Chen Ronghui told reporters that in order to further improve the recycling rate of waste water in the tanning process, Feng will continue to focus on technological innovation and actively promote the clean and environmentally-friendly production of the leather industry through the driving role of the project.

"Compared with the old process of producing leather, the technology of recycling chrome tanning liquor and recovering chromium from wastewater" can save 30% of chrome powder and 50% of inorganic salt, while the concentration of chromium ions in wastewater obviously decreases, which greatly reduces the pressure of sewage treatment plants.

According to Chen Ronghui, the following projects will be carried out mainly in the following aspects: the development and industrialization of chrome tanning liquor recycling technology, the industrialization of water depilation technology for environmental depilatory composition, and the clean production of leather and the development of recycling economy technology.
