New York Implements Clothing Recycling Plan In September
The environmental protection agency says the average American throws 10 pounds of socks, jeans, shirts, sheets and so on each year. Goodwill international industries also conducted a survey of 600 people in the US and Canada. More than half of the respondents said they would not take more than 10 minutes to donate their clothes.
Not all clothes can be recycled, and some worn jeans or shoes may not be recycled, but many companies can think of ways to use these clothes for other purposes. Only 5% of the recycled clothing is eventually thrown into the landfill.
