Malaysia July Price Index Clothing And Footwear Fell 1.7%

According to the statistics released by the Statistics Bureau, the consumer price index (CPI) of the country (2010) in July was 114, up 1.9% from the same period last year (111.9), reaching a 14 month high, which is in line with the market forecast.
Malaysia economists believe that inflation is mainly driven by food and pportation prices in July.
Based on the improvement of Malaysia's economic prosperity and the government's reduction of fuel and sugar subsidies, it is expected that prices will continue to rise in the coming months.

Price increases were more pronounced in alcoholic beverages and cigarettes (up 3%), miscellaneous products and services (up 2.9%), and leisure, service and culture (up 2.6%).
Other rising prices include non-alcoholic beverages and foods (up 2.2%), education (up 1.8%), restaurants and hotels (up 1.6%), health (up 1.6%), traffic (up 1.1%), property, water, electricity, gas and other fuels (up 1%), and furniture, household equipment and daily necessities (up 0.6%).

The cumulative consumer price index for Malaysia between 1 and July is 113.4 points, up 1.5% from 111.7 in the same period last year.
