Li Kaifu: Innovation Is To Break Stereotypes.
Li Kaifu First of all, I am delighted to be here. Hangzhou Do this with the college friends here. Communication 。 After I resigned from Microsoft in September last year, I founded an Innovation workshop in Beijing to help Chinese youth realize their dream of starting an enterprise and strive to build a new generation of hi-tech enterprises for China. Therefore, I think I will be qualified to do such a lecture on entrepreneurship. I have been a professor, and I have worked in three technology companies since then. I have been working on my own business now. I believe that my career is centered around innovation. I want to share with you 4 core concepts that I have been accompanying for more than 20 years.
Innovation is breaking the rules.
People often get used to doing new things in the past. This is why people can not jump out of the box and innovate in time.
Once used to control the carriage, the horse was rein, so the first car in the world had no steering wheel but a rein.
This is a rigid thinking. We have to break this kind of thinking before we can innovate.
For example, 100 years ago, the invention of wireless communications enabled people to exchange information at a distance, known as a great invention at that time.
After that, people constantly strive to reduce the size of communication equipment, so we will have mobile phones every 100 years later.
This is unthinkable 100 years ago.
In the process, a scientist put forward a solution to break the rules, making the receiver compact and cheap, and the radio was born.
This is achieved by breaking the rules.
Looking back on history, the cycle of innovation is very long, but today the cycle of innovation has been shortened.
Therefore, how to innovate and break the rules becomes more and more important.
What binds our minds? First of all, today's education, or eastern education.
All things are either black or white.
Of course, missionary work is correct.
But this kind of thinking is out of date, children have to have new thinking, dare to break the rules and dare to ask why.
So I hope that students can ask themselves more about their parents in their normal learning and life when they accept parents and teachers' guidance. Is there any other way to think about this problem?
This is not a disrespect for our elders, but in this world, not everything is black or white. We should consider the problem from different angles.
In the process of doing my doctoral dissertation, I told myself that it is not to get the result of an excellent paper, but to strive for learning how to think independently.
Such a process of thinking is a kind of ability to learn and think, and it is the most important foundation for breaking the rules.
In today's education, thinking is more important than preaching. It is more important to encourage new ideas than to dispel doubts.
All things are not just one answer.
For example, in Microsoft Corp's interview questions, there is often a problem like "why the lid of a sewer is round?"
The purpose of questioning is to examine whether the interviewer has the ability to think independently. If the answer represents a rigorous, reasonable and imaginative process of thinking, it will be able to demonstrate that the interviewee conforms to such capability requirements.
In my daughter's debate contest, I encouraged her to join in the opposite side of her position. Only in this way can we learn to think from different angles.
Learn to create value
Breaking the rules is often a scientific innovation. It is a breakthrough from the way of thinking, but it should not only talk about scientific innovation, but it must be a more innovative demand and application.
The so-called creation value is to create value for users, create the value of users' needs, and bring new value to the business economy.
Many very theoretical innovations may be needed by society, but it can not bring profits and values.
The innovation encouraged by the business community is not a scientific innovation, but a technological innovation, a business model innovation or even an integrated innovation.
Google's innovation is to apply the theory of information retrieval to the Internet, integrating the index of Internet and the operation of indexing and indexing.
This innovation can not win the Nobel prize, but it is convenient for the vast number of users.
Foreigners always think China lacks innovation. I don't think so.
Many Chinese companies, I think they are innovative, they may not have a fundamental and scientific innovation, but they have created commercial value.
Their business models have gained immense value, and these companies can learn to focus on the user with an open mind, so as to defeat those strong competitors.
The truly valuable innovation is not just to beat the head, not just to innovate in science, but to regard the user as the value of the enterprise.
In the Innovation workshop, we are always implementing the strategic thinking of user first. The photos on the walls of the innovative workshops are photos of our users.
We hope that every employee will always remember that the purpose of his work is to create value for these users, and we will study in depth the users in every market and market.
Through such analysis, we can create more value instead of innovating for innovation.
The voice of users is very important. We should not only solve the problems of today's users, but also have a deep understanding of the future needs of users and the trend of the market, so as to ensure that the demand is in place and the products are in place.
This is the Innovation workshop hopes to create value and put users first.
At this point, my advice to you is to find a company that is worth learning, and the key to successful entry into the Innovation workshop is the internship experience of every summer student.
As far as I observe, students who have summer internships in first class companies will be better than those who do well in their studies, but those who have never practiced.
So don't waste the summer time, seize the opportunity to practice in a first-class enterprise, I believe it will benefit greatly.
