Climate change is the main cause.

There are many reasons for this. There are two specific aspects: one is the abnormal climate.

Around ten in the early August of the lunar calendar, silkworms brought out silkworms from the nursery, while Tai'an had an extremely low temperature before and after the 15th day of the eighth month of the Chinese lunar calendar. At that time, silkworms developed to the three and four instar stages. The silkworm's adaptability to low temperature was poor at this stage, so the low temperature had great impact on silkworms.

Another reason is that the types of pesticides are complex, most of them are chronic pesticides, which cause pesticide poisoning in silkworms, resulting in weaker silkworm constitution and slow growth. Many silkworms can no longer grow white and fat.

As for the villagers' suspicion of the reduction in production due to silkworm eggs, Professor Wang also explained that at present, there is only one disease caused by silkworm breeding problems, that is, a microparticle disease, which mainly shows that silkworms can hardly grow to five instar. Even when they reach five instar, there will be many black spots on silkworms. Therefore, the villagers suspect that silkworm breeding causes reduction in production.
