European Parliament Adopts The Proposal Of Compulsory Origin Identification For Textiles Exported To Europe

The proposal to implement mandatory origin labels is continuing to be promoted in the European Union.
At the end of last week, the European Parliament adopted 525 bills of support, 49 votes against it and 44 abstentions to adopt a proposal to enforce mandatory origin labels for all products exported to Europe.
The proposal was submitted to the Council of the European Union for legislative approval in order to regulate the export to Europe.

It is necessary to clearly identify the place of origin so that European citizens have the right to know the source of their products.

It mainly deals with textiles, shoes, furniture, medicines, tools and parts, such as screws and valves.
The products exported to Europe mainly refer to the final products used by consumers, excluding semi-finished products and intermediate products, such as yarn and shuttle weaving in textile industry.
Countries with imported products do not include: Turkey, Norway, Iceland and Liechtenstein.
If the above proposals are passed by the Council and the EU Council, it should be implemented in the year after the EU formally announces the new regulation.
The report said that in the above proposal, the members also joined the penalty clause of the importer under the circumstances of violation. The clause is valid for five years from the date of its entry into force. The Council and the Council of the European Union will decide whether to extend or modify the statute one year in advance.
