New Nano Technology Fiber Aiming At High Added Value Of Textile And Clothing Products

Under the background of China's foreign trade adjustment structure, the textile and apparel industry is striving to pform the production mode and improve the added value of products through independent innovation.

According to statistics, in 2009, China's fiber production exceeded 26 million tons, ranking first in the world, about second times the United States ranked 6.

But the ratio of functional and differentiated products is less than 40%, which is lower than 60% of developed countries.

Under the guidance of the Shanghai Municipal Science and Technology Commission, researchers in the discipline of materials, clothing, textiles, physics, chemistry and other disciplines in Donghua University have made efforts to break through nano textile materials after 2 years' efforts.

Min Guoquan, director of the nanoscale center of Shanghai science and Technology Commission, said that there are two difficulties in the application of nanotechnology in the field of textile and clothing: first, the combination of nanoparticles and fibers, and the two is industrial production.

According to reports, before the domestic market, the "nano coat" as the selling point of the previous products mostly used to immerse clothes or fibers into nano solution, but the utility was shorter.

Yang Weizhong, general manager of Shanghai Defu Lun Chemical Fiber Co., Ltd., which has already produced related products, said that the clothes produced with this new material can be long-lasting antibacterial. After 50 standard washing, the antibacterial efficiency is still 99%.

Project acceptance group experts, vice president of China Chemical Fiber Industry Association Ye Yongmao believes that at present, domestic fiber in the field of antibacterial has been able to compete with the international level.

In terms of production, Yang Weizhong said, the biggest difficulty is to disperse nano silver particles onto the fiber. But at present, domestic manufacturers can do that, and the cost of producing the product is even lower than that of producing the same antibacterial products 10%-20%, which is lower than half of the foreign production cost.

Zhu Meifang, Dean of the school of materials, Donghua University, said in addition to antibacterial functions, the project also improved the comfort of materials by controlling fiber diameter and fiber shape.

"We hope that this new material will enable you to change the impression that chemical fiber is uncomfortable, and improve the brand added value of textile and clothing products through the function of antibacterial," Zhu Meifang said.
