To Create The British Fashion Chris Liu In China

    2010/11/11 9:00:00 24

    British Fashion

Liu Huan (Chris Liu) is a standard business elite with slender figure, short and dry hair and moustache, and a white shirt with no tie in his suit.

But in fact, he is a fashion designer, including the Chris Liu custom tailored dress named after his name and the high-end male accessories Chris&Tibor in Britain.

Interview with Liu Huan is in the cafe of 88 new world in Shanghai. Then he will give a lecture on British education at the invitation of the British culture and Education Office of the Consulate General.

If it were not for that Mandarin, Liu Huan would be considered a standard British Chinese, courteous and speaking directly to each other's eyes.

He doesn't talk much about his aura as a designer, but he will tell you exactly the market orientation and future direction of Chris Liu or Chris & Tibor.

And many domestic designers can only be famous in the small circles of the country. More and more Chinese designers are emerging in the top fashion circles of Europe and the United States. The names of early Vera Wang, Anna Sui, Vivien Tam and Jimmy Choo have been familiar with each other. In recent years, in the mainstream fashion circles, there have been Jason Wu, which is popular with Mrs. Obama, and 19 years old, such as Alexander, Vivien, and so on.

Liu Huan received a university education in China. He was a domestic designer, but he released his own brand in London Fashion Week and became a leader in the mainstream European fashion circle, ranking among Alexander Wang and Jason Wu.

Like almost all fashion designers, Liu Huan's dream is to build a fashion kingdom. He said that's not ambitious.

"Burberry and LV are starting from bags, and Chris&Tibor is starting to take their route."

"Don't go, madam. There's a gift for you!"

As a woman dress designer, besides making custom fashions, Liu Huan has also made creative guidance for many women's clothing companies, but he also has a big idea of his women's clothing brand.

"Chris Liu women's clothing, if you want to make large quantities of ready-made clothes next time, will need a large fashion enterprise group. This must be done by Chinese enterprises, and the key is to find suitable enterprises."

Liu Huan was born in Urumqi, graduated from northwest Textile University, and then went to Australia to study.

At that time, he was 19 years old, while studying, he had been the designer of the Australian menswear brand SPONTINI.

Liu Huan's fashion business is almost like a duck to water.

Liu Huan, a famous teenager, gave up his career in Australia and went to England for further education.

"I worked for a while and felt that my work had reached a climax.

I think I have to make some changes.

Speaking from the fashion industry, we should start with education.

In New Zealand, it has been nurtured by the British fashion culture, so the only place that we longed for at that time was not New York and Paris, but London.

Because I admire a lot of designers - many of them are colleagues who work together now. They were all the goals I set for myself. They all studied fashion design in London.

    Liu Huan said.

When Liu Huan first arrived in London, he had no chance to go to school. He won the chance that no one else dared to think of. He worked with the design director Christopher Bailey (Christopher Bailey) of the international brand Burberry Burberry, which was founded in 1904 by Burberry Prorsum, and thanks to Bailey's appreciation, Liu Huan was almost a part-time consultant from Bapauley Persson.

Like him, the Tibor Maty, who founded Chris & Tibor together with him, is also Bapauley Persson's design consultant.

After finishing his master's degree program at the London Fashion Institute, Liu Huan won the prize from the fashion center supported by London City Hall and released the brand named after his name from 2003.

In 2005, when Mrs. Hu Jintao visited Britain, she became a guest of the exclusive fashion show.

"At that time, the Chinese Embassy and the British interior department found me -- because I was the only Chinese designer, and they asked me if I could make a press conference for Mrs. Hu.

At that conference, more than 50 people were working in the backcourt, but fewer than 20 people came to the scene, and the scene was quite strict.

Liu Huan was impressed by this. "I was honored to see my wife, and I exchanged gifts, and I gave her a scarf."

It was totally unexpected for Mrs Hu to give him a gift.

"When I turned around to leave, there was a staff member calling me, Liu Huan not to go, madam, there was a gift for you!"

Liu Huan said that the gift was an antique jewelry box.

The scope of fashion coverage is not just a design. It is Liu Huan's experience in London.

When he was preparing for the fashion show at Hoxton's studio, he interviewed himself on the stage model. After London just concluded the conference, he took his salesman to Paris to see the buyer and promote his next season's clothing.

Chinese young people who are over 30 years old are ambitious to plan their next stage in addition to Selfridge, Liberty, and Maria Luisa, the most fastidious boutique in Paris.

"I had planned to return to China before the 2008 Olympic Games.

At that time, I hope my brand Chris Liu can have an international market.

The plan is not as fast as the change. Even now Liu Huan already owns Chris Liu women's clothing and Chris&Tibor's two brands accepted by the European market, but the plan to enter the Chinese market has been stranded.

"There is still a need for a solid market."

But he has been concerned about the changes in China. In this market, the Chinese brand is an international luxury brand, and his consideration is quite realistic.

"Now we will mainly stabilize the first-line markets in London, New York, Paris and Japan, and then start our second tier market.

But our goal will not change. Entering the Chinese market is our biggest goal. "

Looking forward to more Chinese designers in Europe

Unlike many internationally renowned Chinese designers, they will use different Chinese elements in the design. Liu Huan's dress design looks more international.

"Many people say," why can't you see Chinese elements in your design?

Actually, I think there should be some.

I like beautiful things. I like what is right and middle. I don't like asymmetrical things.

In fact, this is very Chinese because many British designers like to do asymmetries.

Liu Huan said, "my design adaptable to a wide range, in addition to Asian girls, many European girls are also very fond of.

They are usually full-time wives of the upper middle class at the age of 30. "

Nevertheless, Liu Huan, who worked alone in England, was also taken care of by many Chinese women.

In his own words, "I have many Mousika".

"Like Maggie Cheung, we wear our women's clothes and Hsu Chi.

Some are publicized by our PR firms.

But like Maggie Cheung, when we were promoting the French shop, she felt that I was more supportive of me as a Chinese designer.

Liu Huan said, "Zhang Yu, editor in chief of the Chinese edition of Vogue, whenever she goes to Paris and Milan fashion week, she will ask me for some clothes to wear.

She thought it was her duty to promote the works of designers with Chinese backgrounds in Europe.

"For me, it is very lonely in Europe, because there are not many Chinese designers in Europe, and many Chinese designers are in New York.

There are a group of Chinese designers in New York, as you all know, but few in Europe.

They have formed a climate, and I hope that in the next step, there will be more Chinese designers in Europe. "

By chance, Liu Huan, the designer who had always been a woman dress designer, began to develop the male high-end brand Chris & Tibor.

"About three or four years ago, when I was going to the gym, I couldn't find a suitable bag.

I said to our craftsman, give me a bag and go to the gym.

Because I am very picky, I think the bags on the market are not good looking.

Liu Huan ordered a leather bag for himself.

After the results were done, friends all over the world liked it, including Tibor, hoping that he would do one more and another, so he made a series.

"By chance, this series was bought by buyers from Japan and Hongkong.

A year later, we re evaluated this bag and created the Chris & Tibor brand.

But Liu Huan said, because it's a women's designer, the University also designs women's clothing.

He never learned leather bag design. He didn't understand anything at first.

"Initially thought that from the design female clothing to the design jewelry, is the big use, now three or four years down, I think this idea is wrong.

You see some first-line brands, such as Prada, LV and Hermes, are all made up of bags.

This is a brand development channel. In fact, it has nothing to do with my dress, but it is complementary to each other. "

"I like things that are fun."

Liu Huan describes his design concept. "If 10 people face my design, I hope 7-8 people will say," I'm going to wear it and carry it back. I don't want to turn it upside down. Everyone says good-looking, but no one wears it and carries it back. I think it's wrong.

I have to understand who my customers are, and I must make the brand that I design have a certain customer base and understand what others need.
