Since when have you been involved in the fashion design of the opening ceremony of the Guangzhou Asian Games?

Han Chunqi: Overall, from the end of the Olympic Games, some of our teams have already started preparing for the Asian Games. It has been more than two years now.

What is the biggest problem encountered in the design process?

Han Chunqi: it's hard to satisfy everyone.

The way to express the mind of the world to China is also a challenge.

Song and dance performances constitute the basic and main content of large-scale performances, so the breakthroughs and innovations in song and dance costume design are particularly important.

Another problem is the color scheme. It's not objective to say good-looking or good-looking, because it's difficult for you to separate the costume from the performance environment, especially the large-scale performance such as the Asian Games.

What do you think of the overall style of the fashion design?

Han Chunqi: relatively open and fashionable.

It is both national and fashionable.

It is reported that during the opening ceremony, there will be 45 national and regional ethnic costumes on display. What are the characteristics of the costumes? What kind of form will Chinese national costume appear?

Han Chunqi: their clothes are all hand-made. This national costume show is all made of women's clothing, mainly because women's clothing is more distinctive and ornamental in terms of clothing.

There are some deformed cheongsam elements in Chinese national costume.

On the basis of national costume, it has also made artistic processing, or deleted or reduced, or deformed or reorganized, so as to keep the main characteristics of the original national costume and fit well with the theme of this Asian Games.

Kapok is one of the core images.

From the point of view of clothing design, what kind of image or elements do you think is the core of the Asian Games opening ceremony?

Han Chunqi: of course, they are all images of South of the Five Ridges.

For example, the flowers and trees of Guangzhou must appear. The red and elegant kapok symbolizes the vitality of South of the Five Ridges culture. Hundreds of actors will be dressed as petals, and sometimes they will be gathered around.

Among them are women wearing typical south of the Five Ridges costumes, playing lanterns, treading water and singing, all of which express strong south of the Five Ridges aesthetic images and strong Chinese style.

In the design process, in order to embody the beauty of South of the Five Ridges, do you want to highlight or strengthen in particular?

Han Chunqi: mainly considering the elements of South of the Five Ridges, which image pmission is not important.

Our team tries to show the Chinese personality, ideal and modern mentality as far as possible in the scheme design. Clothing is only part of the overall creativity, and it can not be required to express all the artistic creativity, and clothing needs many factors such as performer's behavior and acousto-optic technology to achieve the desired effect.

So the key is to embody the overall creativity as far as possible.

Water performance clothing is more "hydrophilic".

Compared with the Beijing Olympic Games, what is the difference in the style of the opening ceremony of the Asian Games?

Han Chunqi: compared to the Olympic Games, we weakened the appearance of ancient clothes, but stressed the national wind. After all, the Asian Games were a regional event. In the designated city of Guangzhou, we tried every means to highlight the historical and cultural characteristics of Guangzhou and the modernity of the city.

The opening ceremony of the Asian Games does not take on so many things. It is mainly based on contemporary historical conditions, making it look more romantic, more dreamy and more artistic. Just like the Pearl River water element we use, it has more affinity and shows greater harmony and tolerance.

When it comes to the "water" element, the performance on the night is done on the water surface. Is there any corresponding treatment for the "water" on the material of the clothes?

Han Chunqi: we did not deliberately use some so-called waterproof "isolation" cloth, but used the same material as before, so that the water soaked clothes just reflect the characteristics of "fusion".

"Hydrophilic" can also more directly illustrate that the Chinese mentality is open and more confident to show the world its own style.

So far, are you satisfied with the costume design of the Asian Games?

Han Chunqi: in fact, the overall success of the Asian Games is the affirmation of clothing design. I personally say that satisfaction is useless. After all, this is a large-scale comprehensive activity, which includes a complete set of procedures.
