    About EGYTEX2009 Egypt Textile Fair:


    The EGYTEX2009 Egypt Textile Fair is Egypt's largest and only internationally influential yarn and fabric home textile exhibition, covering the entire textile production and supply chain, providing a comprehensive range of options.

    The trade fair aims to promote the textile trade between Egypt and other countries.

    The exhibition attracted exhibitors from Britain, France, Germany, the United States, Turkey, China, South Korea, India, Pakistan, Syria, Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Tunisia and Saudi Arabia.

    The Egyptian Textile Fair is located in a strategically important trade hub city in the Middle East and the Mediterranean region, Cairo, emphasizing the need for a complete and vertically integrated textile industry in the region.


    Exhibitors from Asia, Europe and the Middle East show their products and services in clothing, spinning, weaving, dyeing and finishing, accessories, quality control, finance and insurance.

    Egypt has vertically integrated textile industry: from high quality cotton, spinning, weaving, dyeing, until clothing and home textiles.

    However, the 2009 Egyptian Textile Fair will make up for the shortage of its textile industry through the advantages offered by international exhibitors, thus enriching its textile industry.

    VERTICALINTEGRATION vertical integration (vertical integration): the Egyptian textile industry has a complete vertically integrated functional mode, from raw materials to finished products (clothing, home textiles).

    It produces high-quality cotton and imports other fibers (polyester, viscose, wool, etc.).

    Egypt's trade and cultural ties with neighboring Syria, Jordan, Morocco, Tunisia, Turkey and Israel provide a channel for its procurement.

    In order to meet the needs of European customers, 100% of Egypt's cotton products must be imported from Egypt to Turkey.

    Raw material production includes natural fibers such as cotton, silk and flax, and synthetic fibers such as polyester, viscose, acrylic, polypropylene and so on.

    Cloth production includes fine Egyptian cotton, shirt and trousers, fabric, combed wool, denim, knitted fabric and industrial cloth.

    Clothing production includes sportswear, Outerwear, basic clothing, suits, socks, baby clothes and so on.

    Home textile products include a wide variety of bedding, bathroom supplies, kitchen supplies and so on.


    LABORFORCE workforce: the Egyptian population is also one of its strengths.

    The workforce is nearly 18 million, including semi skilled, proficient and highly skilled, with an average annual growth of 2.70%.

    Low wages are suitable for the development of labor-intensive industries.

    Egypt's currency devaluation has further reduced labor costs, and Egypt's annual inflation rate does not exceed 3%, making Egypt the lowest labor cost country in the region.


    CAPACITY production capacity: the Egyptian textile industry has maintained flexible production and delivery time advantages, and the order can be as low as several hundred pieces.

    Many European and American customers sent orders to Egypt.

    49% of Egypt's clothing exports to the European Union.


    OPERATINGENVIRONMENT operation environment: the textile industry is a pillar industry in Egypt, accounting for 30% of gross domestic product, 25% of total export value, and low import tariff of equipment (textile and garment machinery and equipment, spare parts and dye chemicals exempt from import duties).

    A partnership agreement between Egypt and the EU allows textiles and clothing from Egypt to export to the European Union (free trade) without duty.

    Products manufactured from Egyptian origin yarn, European Union or "European Mediterranean agreement" area yarn can be exported to EU without customs duties.

    At the same time, shorter delivery time is another important advantage of Egypt.


    NEEDSOFTHEINDUSTRY industry demand: the textile industry is a pillar industry in Egypt, accounting for 30% of the gross domestic product and 25% of the total export value. Egypt has signed free trade agreements with Europe, the United States, Turkey and other Arabia countries. Under these preferential agreements, Egypt has been producing more clothing and textiles for export to European Union countries and the United States.

    Egypt, however, did not do as well as expected. Although Egypt has some famous yarn, fabrics and accessories, it lacks much more varieties, and the production of these varieties is not cost-effective in Egypt.

    Therefore, 70% of Egypt's yarn and 80% auxiliaries must be imported, while China is the target country to increase import trade and develop closer trade relations.
