1. The impact of the financial crisis

Many small and medium-sized enterprises have closed or pferred, export orders have been greatly reduced, cotton demand has also decreased significantly, resulting in a continuous decline in cotton prices, farmers have no confidence in the cotton market, and many farmers have adjusted the industrial structure of the other crops.

Two, price factors

In recent years, cotton prices have been unstable and fluctuating.

According to the survey, the seed cotton sale price in 2008 was 4.74 yuan / kg, the highest time was 5.4 yuan / kg, the lowest time was only 3.6 yuan / kg.

Although cotton prices have picked up in 2009, the cost of cotton planting has increased relative to the rising production data, and cotton planting efficiency is still low, and cotton prices are not guaranteed.

Three, cotton management is tedious.

Planting one mu of cotton is far more cumbersome than planting an acre of wheat, with a long production cycle and low production mechanization level.

Planting cotton is time-consuming, laborious and labor intensive.

There are high requirements for climate, planting and picking technology.

In order to make good use of soil for fertilization and soil preparation and selection of fine varieties, we should do a good job in seed treatment, soil moisture sowing, suitable seeding, proper sowing, deep sowing, drought resistant sowing, and plastic mulching.

In all stages of cotton growth, we should pay close attention to the change of weather and the growth and change of cotton seedlings and stems and leaves.

Such a tedious planting process is mainly managed by manpower and picking. Cotton farmers are unable to get better returns after spending too much time and labor. Many cotton farmers are deeply disappointed and think that growing cotton is becoming more and more worthless.

In contrast, farmers are more willing to choose wheat and corn which are simple and highly mechanized. While harvesting crop income, some farmers can still go out to work in idle time and harvest extra income from work.

Four, policy support is small.

In recent years, the state has implemented many preferential policies for grain farmers. Grain subsidies have been released in time, and grain subsidies have also been continuously improved. Planting an acre of wheat is directly supplemented by 10 yuan, comprehensive subsidies for agricultural products are 51 yuan, and the subsidy for planting excellent varieties is 10 yuan. Planting corn in addition to 5 yuan per mu, in addition, there is a comprehensive subsidy of 35 yuan for production materials, and 10 yuan for the fine varieties.

Cotton is far less subsidized than grain. Since 2009, the subsidy for planting one mu of cotton has been only 15 yuan. Farmers' seed cotton has not planted grain steadily and has affected cotton growers' enthusiasm for planting cotton to some extent.
