Wu Bingwei, the dean of the Academy, said, "Wu is a necessary place for the silk road. The sceptre found at the site of the Sanxing village in Jintan is located on the top of the silk road. It is a symbolic cultural relic of silk silkworms thousands of years ago. Jintan should be a major town on the silk road."

The cultural relics unearthed from the Sanxing village site of the national cultural relics protection unit in Jintan contain a clear silkworm pattern at the bottom of the pottery pot. The two tombstones of the stone Tomahawk unearthed contain vivid silkworms totem.

In addition, there are similar patterns of silkworms, moths and butterflies on the bone woven hairpin of Tao's spinning, pottery and even women's wear.

These discoveries pushed forward silkworm filming technology for more than one thousand years, and confirmed that Jintan was one of the birthplaces of the ancient Silk Road.

The "Silk Road" was a land passage opened by Zhang Qian to the western region during the Western Han Dynasty, starting from Changan (today's Xi'an), and through Gansu and Xinjiang to Central Asia, Western Asia and the Mediterranean countries. The ancient people pported the Chinese silk and other articles to the western region through this important road. Changan is only a silk distributing center, not a production center.
