Adapting to the era of great development of film and television in twenty-first Century, the school of film and Television Arts of Communication University of China was formally established in 2002.

There are ten teaching departments, namely, the Department of literature and art, the music department, the recording department, the Directing Department, the drama and film and television art department, the radio and Television Literature Department, the photography department, the basic teaching department and the performing and lighting professional departments. The whole training mechanism of the movie and TV art education has been realized. The subject is specialized in Ye Qiquan and the teachers are strong enough to run the school as a whole.

At present, the Academy of film and television arts is not only the largest Communication University of China, but also has the most extensive coverage of disciplines and specialties. It is also a film and TV academy with strong teaching strength, distinctive professional characteristics and the most well-known.

At present, the Academy of film and television has a state-level key subject, radio and television art; a post doctoral mobile station: a state-level art discipline; five doctoral programs: Radio and television art, film, music, drama, art, and master's degree; six master's degree programs: Radio and television art, film, music, fine arts, drama, and art.

The Academy of film and television has 9 undergraduate specialties and 16 professional directions, namely, radio and television editing and directing (music and literature direction), Music Studies (music editing direction, music communication direction, electronic music production direction), recording art major (audio engineering direction, sound director direction), directing professional (directing direction of film and TV drama, editing art and technology direction), performing specialty, drama film and television art design specialty (TV art direction, movie art direction, character modeling direction), photography specialty (film and TV play direction, picture direction), lighting art specialty, drama film and television literature specialty.

The discipline covers a wide range, has a rich academic level and a reasonable professional structure, laying a solid foundation for the sustainable development in the future.

The Academy of film and television is not only a powerful teaching and educating unit, but also an academic research unit at the forefront of theory. It brings together a group of experts and scholars who have solid theories and innovative thinking in radio and television art, film, music, art and other disciplines. Young scholars have also grown up rapidly.

The Academy of film and television arts is supported by the Institute of film arts, the Institute of radio and literature, the New Media Institute, the television drama Institute, the recording art institute and the music communication research institute.

The Academy of film and television has sponsored academic publications such as "contemporary film" and "music communication". It has become the forefront of theoretical exchanges between film and television experts and scholars across the country.

By the end of 2009, the Academy of film and television has undertaken 237 scientific research projects, and 116 projects have been completed, among which 6 are national level projects, 4 have been completed, 59 provincial and ministerial level projects have been completed, and 37 have been completed.

A number of scientific research achievements are at the top level in China, which has made remarkable contributions to the aesthetic growth and academic proliferation of Chinese film and television art, and has strong academic strength in the field of film and television.

At present, there are over 1200 full-time college students in the school.

With the rapid development of postgraduate education in 11th Five-Year, graduate education has also reached a new stage.

At present, there are 564 graduate students and 126 doctoral students.

The growth of the postgraduate lineup indicates that the goal of personnel training in Colleges and universities is heading for the training of high-level talents.

In order to adapt to the fast development of the school running, the construction of the Faculty of film and Television Academy has also achieved leaping development, and the number of 78 people from the beginning of the founding of the academy has increased rapidly to 176.

Among them, 42 doctorates and 93 master's degree, 36 have been rated as high professional titles, 36 have been rated as deputy high professional titles, 11 are doctoral tutors, 55 are masters tutors, and a considerable number of teacher echelons have been formed. They are reasonable in terms of education, titles, academic origins and age distribution, and have trained a large number of film and television talents.

Among them are the winners of the Golden Eagle awards, the Golden Rooster Awards, the Chinese watch awards, the flying apprizes and other national awards and provincial and ministerial level awards. They also have the finalists of the French Cannes Film Festival and the Tokyo International Film Festival.

The students in our college have also won awards at various national, provincial and municipal levels, and are active in the forefront of the creation of famous films and TV dramas.

The Academy of film and television has actively utilized the resources outside the school, has recruited many famous experts and professors as part-time instructors and visiting teachers. The famous professors and scholars from the United States, Germany, France, Australia, and Eastern Europe and Japan, Korea and other countries have set up a leading course in film and television art at the Academy of film and Television Arts, so that the teaching of the film art academy keeps pace with the world's film and TV art education.

At the same time, it has established close cooperation and exchanges with the University of California at Los Angeles drama film and television school, University of Southern California film department, University of Miami, Paris eighth University Film Department, Nihon University art department, New Zealand Institute of technology performance and screen art academy, Tallinn University of Estonia electric school, and the City University of Hong Kong.

The professional setup of film art academy covers the whole process of film and television art education; the Faculty of film and Television Art Institute is the backbone of the strong and scholarly artists; the talent training of film and television art academy will make a great achievement in the twenty-first Century Chinese film and television art circles.

Drama, film and television art design

The art department has two undergraduate and master's degrees (including master of Arts MFA).

The major of drama, film and television art design includes two professional directions: "Scene Design" and "image design".

After graduation, students can apply for master's degree in Arts and master of Arts in drama, film and television, and continue to pursue advanced studies.

The fine arts department has a strong faculty. Most teachers have high popularity and creative and academic achievements in related fields in China, such as Professor Tong Hua Miao, a famous film costume designer who has served as "the story of autumn chrysanthemums", "red lantern hanging high", "my father and mother", "alive" and "killing Bill". Cao Jiuping, the best Chinese Art Award of the 2005 Golden Rooster Award in China, was written by a letter from an unknown woman.

TV art design is a special feature of our profession. We make full use of the advantages of the media and have close cooperation with all levels of TV stations and film and television companies, so as to provide students with perfect teaching practice bases.

A series of television art design works compiled by Professor Ye Jianxin, director of the film and TV Art Committee of the China Film and television technology society, have filled the gap in China.

At the same time, we also hired well-known experts and scholars in the field of Chinese film and television art as teachers to teach.

The graduates of art department mainly work in the fields of television and art design, TV channel packaging design, image design, art design, art editing, etc. in major domestic TV stations, film and television companies, publishing houses, universities and other fields.

Direction of film and television scene design

This professional training has good theoretical basis and excellent practical ability of film and television art design, and has practical talents with creative thinking to meet the needs of visual image design of film and television art.

This profession focuses on the direction of film and television art design, including the design of film and TV drama scenes, television studio scenes and evening scene, special effects design of TV and movie, and packaging design of TV channels.

The subjects of this course include basic theories and basic knowledge in literature, aesthetics, art and so on, and professional basic training in sketch, color, composition, computer art design, audio-visual language, photography art and so on.

Professional courses include art design of movie and TV series, stage art design, television studio design, 3D virtual design, video and visual effects design, television packaging art, film and TV personas design and so on.

Direction of character design

The professional direction is to train people with professional knowledge of film and TV dramas, dramatic performances, TV presenters, public figures, advertising models, fashion and fashion modeling, etc., with creative thinking and rich imagination. They can skillfully use various kinds of people's modeling skills and specializes in film and TV personage design, public figures design and fashion design work.

The main courses in this field include basic theories and basic knowledge in literature, aesthetics, art history, makeup history, art appreciation, etc., while receiving quality training in drawing, color, sculpture, color science, photography, computer art design, audio-visual language, film and TV drama analysis, music foundation and performance introduction, as well as film and TV drama character design, TV host makeup, public figure design, fashion design, fashion make-up and character design.
