Taiyuan University of Technology is one of the first three national universities in China. After more than a hundred years of inheritance and development, Taiyuan University of Technology has been built into an institution of higher learning which is mainly coordinated by industry, science and engineering, science, engineering, culture, management, economics, law, sports, the United States, and the military. It is the only national "211 Project" key university in the province. It is also one of the five key universities in the central part of the country.
 

The textile engineering of Taiyuan University of Technology and Academy of Fine Arts, founded in 2000, are one of the schools directly under the Taiyuan University of Technology. They are located at 357 Yingbin street, Yuci District, Jinzhong, covering an area of 100 thousand square meters, with a total construction area of 100 thousand square meters.

The Institute has over 200 teachers, including 60 senior professors and associate professors. The Institute has two master's degrees in "textile materials and textile design" and "art design", and they are all key supporting disciplines in Shanxi. There are nine full-time undergraduate courses in textile and clothing engineering department, design art department, video art department, business department, foundation department, and continuing education department, which have textile engineering, costume design and engineering, art design, painting, photography, animation, e-commerce, cultural industry management and digital media art. More than 4600 students are in school.

College design art experimental teaching center is a national experimental teaching demonstration center construction unit. It has first-class art galleries, collection rooms, fashion show hall, classical art research center and other facilities in Universities in the province. The Institute has more than 50 experimental and practical training facilities, including functional fiber testing center, textile materials, fabric design, textile CAD, environmental art studio, photographic production center, electromechanical control, computer center and so on, which can meet the teaching practice needs of all kinds of professional students and create favorable conditions for scientific research and development.

The Institute has actively carried out teaching research and academic activities, undertook a number of research projects at provincial and ministerial level, and won many awards such as the "two National Technological Invention Award" in 2009. Through various forms, it has conducted academic exchanges with many famous universities, such as the Florida State University, University of Sheffield, Germany, the University of Applied Sciences, China Central Academy of Fine Arts, Tsinghua University, and Yao Mu, Professor of Chinese Academy of engineering, has been appointed as professor emeritus professor or visiting professor in more than 20 famous and famous professors in China and abroad.

In order to meet the needs of social and local economic development, the Institute has set up the discipline development goal of textile science and engineering and art two universities, led by arts, industry and management, intergrated, interpenetrated, focused and coordinated development. The college led the establishment of the new Shanxi textile industry technology center, and established the Shanxi arts and crafts research and development base, which built a platform for the development of textile and art key disciplines and the promotion of production, learning and research cooperation.

The textile and garment Department has two general undergraduate majors in textile engineering and clothing design and engineering, one of which is mechanical design, manufacture and automation, and two specialties: mechanical and electrical engineering and electrical automation. Textile engineering and clothing engineering are the most special subjects in our hospital. The history of school running can be traced back to Shanxi light industry normal college in Shanxi textile and textile industry, clothing and mechanical and electrical departments. Textile Engineering
