Japan Begins To Cease Tariffs On Leather Products In The Second Half Of This Year

According to "Japan economic news" reported that in China's exports to Japan over a variety of products over the GSP limit, Japan decided to impose excessive tariff on the excess part of the tariff system.

Among the 78 products that impose general duties on the excess part, 51 of China's products have started to exceed the limit from mid July. By the end of this year, these products will be subject to general duties.

The general tax system is designed to promote the economic development of developing countries and adopt a low tax system for imported goods to specific countries.

The Japanese system is currently applied to about 3500 commodities in 164 countries, and 78 of these commodities will be subject to general duties when exceeding a certain limit, most of which are textiles, leather products and disposable wooden chopsticks. The 51 imported products from China will cease to be subject to universal tariff starting from the second half of this year.

In addition, Japan also stipulates that the 13 products will abolish their preferential tax from third years when the import volume exceeds one billion yen and the import country proportion exceeds 25%. Among them, cushion, blanket and 11 kinds of products are all oriented towards China.

The report said that the import of such goods from China has also been increasing significantly beyond the benchmark value. In the future, as a big exporter, China will further break away from preferential tariff treatment.
